Our love was never meant to be
You were you, and I was me
Fire was never meant to choose
A shattered hope no love pursues
No god can mend the ties that bind
Or implant love into one's mind
Am I supposed to have known
That your thoughts were yours alone?
Laughter plagues the evening wind
But the good times had to end
We were never made to embrace
I was never supposed to kiss your face
We've all the makings of strong desire
In more ways than one, you lit my fire
And I just think it's so unfair
That we weren't destined to be a pair
Our love was like a winter's snow
It came all at once, we didn't know
That when we kissed that fateful day
Our love would later melt away
A memory can't begin to explain
The unbelievable rush of pain
I never wanted it to end
You're so much more than my best friend
The flowers of passion have withered and torn
I'm a broken heart that does nothing but mourn
Is it my fault I couldn't be with you?
There's no way that you loved me too
I've given my heart to no one but you
And I only wish my dreams came true
But crimson and violet aren't supposed to combine
We've got no cheerful Valentine
It had to end because of me
I don't want you to live in misery
If we were together, life would be tough
And I know you've had to go through enough
Go find someone who is weant for you
Though they'll never love you like I do
I'll force myself to smile as I watch you go by
Because if you're happy, then so am I
