Thin ice
Lily sighed. He just had to ruin it. He has to do something or the other. His every joke is either on her or the Slytherins. The library was the only place James potter would never go; hence Lily spent most of her free time there, trying to stay away from him. But on a glorious day like this,Lily couldn't contain herself.
When I say glorious day, I bet you all imagined a warm summer day with flowers and butterflies and little fairies and pixies. (Just kidding about the pixie and all part)
But this was a cold freezing winter day. Okay, it wasn't that cold. It was only slightly cold.
Yet Lily shivered. Not because she was cold, but because James potter was coming her way. She got up from the cozy spot where she was sitting. She started walking away from James. She was so mad about what he had done this morning that she didn't even care where she was going.
James apparently noticed that Lily had gone off somewhere else. His eyes searched the grounds till he finally saw Lily walking towards the Black Lake. He ran after her
"Lily!" he screamed.
"Wait for me!"
But Lily did not wait. She kept on walking away from him, but he being the quidditch player he was, caught up with her easily.
"Go away, Potter." said Lily, clearly angry at him for some reason.
"But what did I do?" asked James innocently.
"So you did nothing this morning to my breakfast?" she asked.
"Lily, I didn't do anything to you."
"I don't believe you!" she said, her temper rising.
"Now go away. You're walking on thin ice here."
"Not until you tell me what exactly did I do now? Even though I didn't do anything." said James.
Lily's fists clenched and unclenched. She was trying to make up her mind on weather she should hit James or not, when suddenly
CRACK!
"Lily!" screamed James
Lily smiled.
"I told you that you were walking on thin ice." She said
Many people who had been watching the two of them argue were now laughing at the sight in front of them.
James had finally broken the ice. Literally (bet you thought Lily punched him. Hehehehe). They had been walking on the black lake which was frozen due to the cold. Lily had told him that he walking on thin ice but he didn't listen. He was now, unsuccessfully, trying to swim.
"Help me!" He cried again.
"Cant you swim?" she asked, surprised.
"What does it look like?" he screamed.
"First, you admit that you put those beetles in my breakfast!" she said, taking advantage of his position
"Fine! I did whatever you say I did." He said, defeated.
10 minutes later, James sat beneath an oak tree a towel around him, too embarrassed to move. His secret was out. The whole school now knew that The Fabulous James Potter can't swim.
"Sirius," he said looking at his friend, who was now rolling on the grass with laughter.
"Did you put those beetles in her breakfast?"
Sirius got up trying to hold back his laughter. He nodded solemnly and then burst out laughing again after looking at James' expression.
Lily shook her head
"Some boys never learn." She thought.
