Don't Leave Me

Disclaimer: I do not own the character of Happy from the Sons of Anarchy universe he is the property of Kurt Sutter. I make no money from this or any other story on this site.

A/N: Happy has to deal with his emotions when losing his mother, she is in her last minutes of life and he does not want to lose her. The only parent he has ever known and one of the few women who has ever had any real influence on his life.

I know some people will think this is out of character for him but as it has been shown in the programme by his actions that he does love his mother.

Happy sat beside his mother's bed holding her hand as the woman who had helped shape his life started to take her last few breathes on this planet. His mother had been ill for such a long time now and although in some ways it would be a relief when she passed away at the same time he was not so sure he wanted to lose her just yet.

He looked down with love at his sleeping mother as he continued to hold her hand and remembered the strong independent woman she had been, the mother who had worked two jobs at a time to keep a roof over their heads, who had stood up to those who had tried to hurt him as a child or try and take him away from her when he had messed up as a teenager and come under the radar of the social services.

As the memories assailed him, he fought to keep control of his emotions, he was not an emotional man and he knew his brothers in the club would be surprised and in some cases shocked if they see him now, the stoic Tacoma killer, fighting to keep back the tears that threatened to spill from his eyes.

He leaned closer to his ma as he felt and heard her breathing change, it had become more strained and lighter as she struggled to breathe and he knew instinctively that it was time as he felt her beginning to slip away.

"Don't leave me."

Happy knew it was a selfish and futile request as he whispered it and he knew that she had no choice in leaving him as she continued on her final journey, a journey that everyone had to take in the end, her body was failing, closing down and as much as she did not want to, it was time leave her beloved son behind.

After what seemed like an eternity his mother's breath light and strained suddenly changed and he heard the rattling sound in her throat that signified that the end had come. He leaned forward to kiss her on the forehead the tears he had fought to keep back were now falling shamelessly down his cheeks as he said goodbye to the only woman he had ever loved unconditionally…his ma!

A/N: As always reviews are welcomed and appreciated whether you like the story or not. Although I do hope that you like it and it does not upset you too much. I will admit I did find this story quite hard to write without feeling emotional during it.
