There is sat. The Bone Eaters Well. Before, the Well had seemed harmless, even pointless. But now that Kagome had stumbled into his life, the Well had become cruel and mocking, especially when she jumped over it's lip to return to her time.
He had considered destroying it so that she could stay in this time with him, but knowing Kagome she would be extremely angry and would hold a grudge against him for the rest of his existence. The idea of this wasn't a pleasant one.
He knew she would be leaving today. She needed to rest - the last battle against Naraku had worn her out more so than other ones had - and she missed her family - it hade been almost a month now since the last time she saw them.
So there he sat, waiting. He glared endlessly at the well - how dare it steal away the woman he loved so dearly - until he felt Kagome's aura growing nearer. It was coming from his right, and was moving relatively fast. She was excited to leave. He growled.
Out through the cover of trees and bushes she appeared. She was wearing a short pair of pants - shorts, he remembered - and a long sleeved shirt because her regular outfit had been ruined in battle. The small smile that had been on her face morphed into one of shock when she caught sight of him sitting there. Then she quickly became irritated.
She tossed back her glossy black hair over her shoulder and huffed. Her plump pink lips pursed in frustration and her delicate arms folded neatly across her lovely chest. He reminded himself to admire these parts of her more often, because this caused a light blush to colour her face.
She huffed again before speaking. "I thought that we agreed that I would go home for a few days."
He frowned when her beautiful blush vanished, then stood up. "That does not mean I like your leaving my side."
Her expression softened and she moved closer to him. When they met, she instantly tangled her hands into his long white hair and gently stroked his ears. He rumbled in pleasure.
"Sesshoumaru," she sighed before placing a small kiss on the corner of his mouth, "don't do this to me."
"I will do what I please," he growled before pressing his lips forcefully against her own. She went along with this eagerly for several minutes before she got her head back and ended it.
"You're trying to distract me," she accused playfully, but at the same time she removed her hands from his hair.
"Precisely."
She chuckled and took his hand in both of her own. "You know I have to go."
"No, you do not."
She frowned. "I want to go," she said, rephrasing her previous sentence. When he growled, she groaned. "Not forever. Just for a few days. Jeez, what's with you and your brother. You never let me leave!"
"Half-brother. And speaking of whom, he is coming this way."
She gasped. "You have to let me go now, or I'll never be able to leave. He didn't know I was leaving today!"
Sesshoumaru snorted - very quietly, mind you - and released her. "Go. I will distract him. But if you do not return in three days, I will not stop him from retrieving you."
Kagome smiled the smile that made him realize how much he loved her. "Deal." With that, the Well stole her away once again right as his idiot half-brother raged into the clearing.
