Raito Yagami was in a strange mood. It had been fifty six hours, thirty two minutes and three seconds since he had slept. Exactly ten hours, fifteen minutes and forty six seconds ago he had given up all attempts at the Kira case. Instead he took out his frustration in a game of chess against the computer. Twelve wins later he was bored, tired and some other emotion he could not put his finger on.

He stole a glance to Ryuzaki, otherwise know as L. The detective showed none of the stress and exhaustion the teen felt. Ryuzaki merely stacked his sugar cubes as he read through information that they had already gone through a hundred times before. Raito was sure there was nothing they had overlooked. He was beginning to think the man was doing this just to test him.

Raito glanced at his watch. It had now been fifty six hours, thirty three minutes and forty nine seconds. He wanted to sleep. So he tugged on the chain connecting the two. He tugged hard, knocking Ryuzaki off balance and toppled the detective and the tower he had built of sugar to the floor.

Ryuzaki looked to Raito from the floor his gaze unreadable. After a long moment he spoke, "Yes, Raito-kun?"

"You do realize it has been over two days since we have last slept?"

"Yes. I fail to see your point. Unless you are Kira and wish to distract me from the case."

Raito had had enough. The lack of sleep had finally got to him and he cracked. Lunging at Ryuzaki, he caught the man off guard and pinned him to the floor. The detective just blinked up at him, seemingly unfazed.

"Fifteen per cent, Raito-kun"

"Damn it Ryuzaki! Do you have any idea how it feels to be accused of being a mass murder? Of being accused of a crime you are not guilty of? Of course not. . . The pure, perfect L wouldn't know. He is above all suspicion. . . Above all petty emotions. . . So cold one could die under his gaze. You make me hate you, Ryuzaki."

Raito sat on top of L, his breathing ragged as he glared down at the man. The man that would stare up at him with those incomprehensible eyes, waiting for him to make a mistake. Raito stood and usesdthe chain to yank the other to his feet. Once to his feet, the other man stumbled and fell into Raito.

Raito's body betrayed him. That was twice in the same day. First the unplanned outburst and now. Of their own accord, his arms wrapped themselves around Ryuzaki. Said man's eyes widened as he looked up as his suspect.

The game was a foot and would play out in a way neither man expected.
