Winter blew into place as Matt was tapping away on his Nintendo DS sitting on a couch in the common room next to the pale first, Near. Near was neatly and silently pressing pieces into his white puzzle, he pretended to ignore Matt and his 'silly' game play.
Piece by piece he stuck the shapes into the square that had been formed a few hundred times. Near wondered what he saw in his pixilated friends in his DS screen.
"Score!" shouted out Matt as he got through the Elite four on Pokemon diamond for the first time since he reset his game.
Near jumped at the sudden noise, almost like a cat hit by ice cold water. Shaking his head he went back to his puzzle.
Minutes later Matt asked him a question, "Near," Near jumped again. "What do you see in that plain puzzle?.." Matt cocked his head to one side as he finished his sentence.
"I..I see the same thing in it as you see in your games I suppose.." he still did not look up from his puzzle.
"But Near, I change my games out..I've never seen you change puzzles." Near this time looked up.
"Why are you asking me this?" he said looking at him straight in the eyes. Matt shook his head, "I really have no clue." he got off the couch and set next to Near, causing near to shake slightly.
Matt noticed the shake and quietly said "I won't hurt you..Here, doesn't this piece go there?.." Near nodded and put the piece in the slot that Matt pointed out.
Hours past quickly as Near sat there playing his puzzle, Matt taking time every once and awhile to point out where one might go.
Soon came the time to leave for bed and Matt got up off the floor, causing a DS card to fall out with out his notice. "Good night Near" Matt said with a wave, near just nodded back.
Before Near knew it he actually missed the company of Matt. Causing him to get up and go to bed.
He put back his puzzle and then almost stepped on the small grey card.
Picking it up he said, "Oh..Matt's.." Near zoomed into the cards label, "Mario?.." Near shook his head and headed off to Matt and Mello's room to deliver it. Luckily, this was the time of night Mello showered, making it a safe return.
As he strode down the halls to Matt's dorm he flipped the card over and over through his fingers.
"Ah..Here is his room.." Near gently knocked on the door.
Matt answered. "Yeah?" he said smiling at the albino kid at his door.
"You left this.." Near said quietly.
"Oh, Thanks..Come on in." He motioned through his door.
Near was confused at why he couldn't just take the card, but walked in anyway.
Matt took the card, laid it down and tackled Near onto the bed.
"M-MATT WH-HAT ARE YOU DOING!?" Near squirmed to get loose.
"Near..Your so cute in the moonlight.." Matt said with a slur and began to kiss his lips. Near actually enjoyed it but would never admit it in his cold dark life.
"Matt!! Let me go!!" Near screamed, but Matt's strength over came his.
Matt frowned sadly, "D-Don't..Don't you love me near?.."
Near froze, and Matt loosened his grip letting Near go. Near sprinted out the door as a single tear fell down his starlight whit skin.
