….Um hello… I guess a bunch of people must hate me for um dropping off the face of the Earth for like 2 years… But I did have surgery! And then school! And um yeah... So after looking back at this story and realizing it kind of sucked, I have decided to completely RE-VAMP THIS BABY. So, um kind of forget the old one, but not completely? They're similar but this one might actually have some plot?
Disclaimer: I'm only going to say it once this time, sadly, I don't own any of these songs or Katekyo Hitman Reborn. If I did it would look a whole lot like Free! But with the mafia.
Open Season
Get on your knees
and I thought you can leave it all in your mind
all in your mind
crawl in the backseat, old friend
it is really all in your mind
all in your mind…
His dad wasn't always like this, he used to be kind and tell him about his adventures all over the world. There didn't use to be beer bottles covering every inch of the house, there used to be coffee colored carpets that he would play on as a toddler. His moms eyes didn't use to have that dead look, they were once warm and filled with love. His family hadn't always been broken…
"NANA! WHERE'S MY DINNER?!"
Tsuna covered his ears.
"I-I'm sorry dear, just a few minutes and-"
"I DON'T CARE YOU WENCH, JUST GET ME SOME FOOD AND MORE BEER!"
His father screamed spittle flying out of his mouth.
Tsuna covered his eyes. He loved his mother and it killed him inside to watch his "father" torture her, but the last time he had said something he'd been slapped, kicked, and punched. His mother had tearfully told him later when she was fixing his wounds that she could handle herself and didn't want him to hurt for her.
He tried to protest that it wasn't right what his father did, and that she deserved better but- Nana had just shaken her head and quietly explained in the way one did to a child who didn't know better that Iemitsu could be kind and that it was his house and money they were living off of.
Nana had never finished high school, instead choosing to run off with Iemitsu and eventually have Tsuna. She couldn't hold a steady job, and had no other family that would be willing to take her and Tsuna in. Basically, they were stuck.
It took Tsuna a few more years to figure out that his mother was also just unwilling to leave. She couldn't, and wouldn't bring herself to defy her husband. She'd been living with his toxic-ness for so long that it was all she knew, and she couldn't imagine anything better. She'd given up the fight and had resigned herself to her fate.
Little Tsuna. Quiet, sweet Tsuna hadn't.
The urge to fight, and escape was always present. Even on his darkest days when it seemed like the whole world was telling him to give up. He'd tried running away to a friend's house, only to have his friends parents drive him home chuckling about children and their "silly antics."
He'd tried confronting a guidance counselor, only to be asked to bring home a form to his father about further group counseling. The form was ripped, and Tsuna was sore for a week.
He'd actually once been approached by his gym teacher who was concerned with the "strange" bruises on his arm. He'd nearly cried with relief right then. Finally someone who would listen and might be able to help. His gym teacher Mr. Uso had let him talk for an hour after school and then decided to walk him home. Tsuna felt like he was on a march to storm the enemy's headquarters.
Tsuna had felt close to exploding from nerves when Mr. Uso then proceeded to enter his house. His mother remained like a deer in headlights next to his father as Mr. Uso sat them down to talk. For a few moments a suffocating silence filled the room, and then cutting through it like a knife Mr. Uso addressed what was on everyone's mind.
"Earlier today, I noticed bruises on your sons arm. Bruises aren't uncommon on children, but I just had a feeling that something was off. When I confronted Tsuna about this he told me that he'd been hit. By you, Mr. Sawada. Now I can't think of any reason to ever hit a child, and personally I am disgusted by you Iemitsu Sawada"
"Child abuse is a-"
Iemitsu cut Mr. Uso off before he could finish.
"Stop right there. First you burst into my home uninvited, and then you accuse me of abusing my very own, sacred, child?!"
Nanas eye twitched.
"I will not sit quietly while you make such outrageous accusations! How I discipline my child is of my own concern, and I assure you, if I ever do lay a hand on my child it is for a very good reason!"
Oh, so now breathing is a very good reason to beat your child? Tsuna had thought while watching his father fluster Mr. Uso.
"I am a responsible adult who is capable of appropriately dealing with his child!"
How many beer bottles are piled in the corner? 16? 20? Tsuna continued to count the bottles.
"Just ask my wife Nana! Right dear? Tell the rude man!"
Tsuna's heart skipped a beat as he slowly looked over to his mother whose eyes looked impossibly wide. The moment of truth. Nana's face was white as a sheet and a drop of sweat raced down her neck.
"U-um, my h-husband is a good man. And I don't b-believe he would hit Tsu-chan w-without reason…"
Tsuna's heart felt like it would just stop entirely. His hands were clammy and there was a strange ringing in his ears. In that one moment after hearing his mother speak, for just an instance Tsuna lost hope. The fact that his own mother would lie for his father and forsake both of them ripped him apart inside…
His gym teacher had insisted on coming by the house a few more times after that, but besides a slightly higher mark than usual in gym that year nothing changed.
With each passing year Tsuna had lost a little more and more hope, which brings us to the present…
**thank you, if you have stuck with this story this long, I promise I will try to be more on top of this story this time! Also I am working on re-vamping the next few chapters, they probably will be new and sparkly, but if one doesn't make sense then it has not been updated...*
