Neville left his books and things in the Herbology room and ran toward the Hufflepuff common room. He waited by the entrance and let the time tick away. Neville didn't care if he missed the rest of his classes for the day. As time passed, he felt anxious and he wondered if she had already left, but he continued to wait. His perseverance paid off and the door opened.
"Hannah," Neville said quietly.
Hannah's eyes were red and puffy from crying. She had her trunk and looked ready to leave Hogwarts. Without words, Hannah dropped her trunk and threw her arms around Neville.
"I'm sorry about your mum," Neville put his arms around her awkwardly.
"It's not your fault, Neville," Hannah said tearfully.
Neville didn't know what else to say, so he held her for a few more moments.
"I'm going to miss you," Neville spoke softly.
"I'll miss you, too," Hannah let her arms drop.
Neville reluctantly let go of her. Hannah gave him a weak smile, then lifted up her trunk and began to slowly descend the stairs. There was so much he wanted to tell her, but he didn't speak. He watched her walk away and wondered if he would ever see her again.
Author's Note: Neville/Hannah is my second favorite pairing in Harry Potter. I think it's a shame that they're not more popular.
