"THE RAVEN STOPS BANK HEIST AND SAVES HUNDREDS!"

I tossed newspaper articles into the metal bin. I didn't bother reading them, for I knew all too well the victories they described.

"THE RAVEN SAVES SCHOOL BUS FULL OF CHILDREN!"

Next were the photos. My graduation from the Hero Academy, selfies taken with old friends in the League. Memories I wanted to forget.

"THE RAVEN STOPS 'R. SON' AND HIS MINION 'MINION'!"

Finally, my mask. I managed to slip it into my bag before the League could confiscate it along with my suit. It was a simple black eye mask with a beak. I didn't want them to take it. I wanted it. But now it was just a painful reminder.

I tossed it in as well. I went to grab the box sitting next to me when I caught sight of a crumbled up newspaper clipping laying next to the bin. I must've missed one. Despite myself, I couldn't help but straighten it out and read the headline.

"THE RAVEN DIES BY 'DR. MANIAC'! MILLIONS IN TEARS!"

I didn't hesitate to crumble the article back up into a ball and toss it into the bin. I sat there, looking at the metal bin before me, holding the remnants of my past, who I used to be. Flashes went through my mind, memories I wanted to forget of that faithful day...

"You're not a superhero anymore. You lost your powers."

"So what?! You're just going to tell everyone I'm dead! If my parents were still alive, they'd be on your asses!"

"I'm sorry, Ra-No, I'm sorry, Suzy, but this is what we have to do. The Victims of Villains Organization can help you, but that's all we can help you with relating to this matter. You are, for now on, a civilian. Neither a superhero or a villain."

"And what? You're just going to tell everyone I'm dead?! You're not going to stop Dr. Maniac?!"

"Suzy, stop yelling. If you keep yelling, I'm afraid I'll have to call in the-"

"FUCK YOU!"

I struck a match and watched the fire dance before throwing it into the bin.

They were right about one thing...the Raven was dead...but she was about to rise from her ashes.
