This one-shot was inspired by MBLAQ's song 'Rust'. I hope you guys enjoy this!-JasZ
Klaus won't deny that his heart is encrusted by rust. He never wanted it to go unused…. But with the life he had lived; he'd rather it rust than have it stabbed a thousand times over… The only cracks that ever show in his heart are because of his siblings and 'son'.
Yet even with that his rusted heart refuses to fully open to them. The trails over the years only envelope his hear more. Pushing and pulling them away from him. The anger and loneliness that engulfs him: whenever he sees them living a live that requires an open and 'clean' heart. He hates that the can just set him aside like a toy.
That is why he does what he does when the wolf girl appears claiming to carry his child. He pushes away violently. The possibility of something so absurd to happen is like a snow storm in the desert. He doesn't dare to dream of it being true. But his brother does believe it… so the girl enters their lives and home. Slowly she worms her way into the rusted heart of the Hybrid.
Months pass and the child is born. Her cries breaks pass all the barriers that he had placed over the years. The need to protect her overwhelms him. Her mother killed just minutes of giving birth. As he falls to the ground, after the witches take his daughter, he crawls towards Hayley. He remains there cradling her lifeless form. This is why he protects himself. The pain and loss of someone dear is too much for him.
Elijah reasons with him to get the daughter that was taken. So the Hybrid does just that. But the time has come that he has to give her away… To protect her he has to let her go. He slowly allows rust to once again cover his bleeding heart. Hoping that he'll keep the act going that he doesn't care at all. The Hybrid does care and is located in the nursery. Hayley at his side as they both stare at the empty crib. The silence of the room is welcomed with open arms.
"How do you do it?" She finally breaks the silence.
"Do what little wolf?" Klaus replies softly.
"No care."
"Who says I don't? It may appear that I don't. But it'll all a front. Don't fret little wolf, she's safe and sound." He wishes he could believe the words he spills.
"What if-"
"She won't forget us, Hayley. Our blood runs in her veins. She'll return to us."
"How do you do it?" She asks again.
"My heart is encrusted by rust."
"Rust?"
"I don't always allow beings into my life like that. But the place where our daughter has paved will not allow rust to drown it. But it will be have specks of it. So no one can get her here." He places a large hand over his heart.
Hayley nods and vows to do the same. Maybe Klaus isn't a bad guy… Just misunderstood thanks to all the pain he endured over the years. A good guy trying to live as a bad one; just finding a way to keep those he adores buried in his heart. Allowing it to rust to prevent getting hurt the same way he once was.
So I will be posting another Klayley One-shot tomorrow called 'Devil In My Heart.' so keep tuned. I really liked how this One-shot came out. but was anyone upset as i was on Monday's Episode? Not just on the whole Kol thing but Hayley telling that to Klaus? I got to go vent someone... Let me know what you guys think of this One-shot!-JasZ
