This is only the Prologue. As of the next chapter it will be written in 3rd person from Nadeths perspective. She is also the main and most important Character. You don't learn much about her, yet. It might not seem like much now but with time and help from reviewers and the sort I'm sure my writing will improve. Thank you for reading!
It was dark by the time they reached the gates. The stars in the sky and the torches on either side of the entrance were the only objects illuminating the earth. The group of travellers halted as one of the men got off their horse and walked towards the small opening in one of the giant doors.
'Please state your name and reason of visit.' demanded the soldier on the other side.
'Lord Bordan. We are here one behalf of prince Theodreds betrothal.' answered the man.
'One moment' said the soldier before leaving. Voices could be heard. Then the gates slowly opened.
The man turned towards his companions and nodded. These proceeded to get off their horses. He walked over to his horse taking the reigns.
'I want you both to be on your best behaviour.' he said while looking at the now open doors.
The women didn't look at each other only answering 'Yes, father.'
The soldiers lead their visitors towards the stables where they were relieved of their horses and then up the wide stairs to the castle standing atop. While they were walking their steps were the only thing making a sound. None of the travellers dared say a word. The first person to say something was the guard stopping them from entering the hall.
'Please hand over all your weapons' was all he said.
As they did what they had been asked to the silence fell once more. The guard nodded when every one had removed their weaponry.
'The King will be with you shortly' he spoke and stepped aside for the group to pass.
Inside the hall it was warm and welcoming. At the far end was an unattended throne, to either side was a passageway and the whole room was lit by torches. It didn't take long before someone walked into the hall from the left corridor. By the way the man held himself and the crown on his head one could tell it was the King.
'Lord Bordan. I have been awaiting you.' said the older man.
'King Theoden. It is an honour to finally be in your company.' answered Lord Bordan.
'Our agreement stands it would seem.'
'Yes. My daughter Kalwyn is here to be married to prince Theodred, my other daughter is to be a maid and some of my finest soldier are now yours. I also have the amount of gold we agreed on with me.'
'Good.' was all the King said nodding.
