Why?

It's a simple question. It's frank and to the point. It has several different usages. And as Sheldon stood in the hall with Penny, a look of confusion on his face, the definition of why was racing through his head.

-Adverb

For what reason, cause, or purpose?

"Why do you like me?" Sheldon questioned.

Penny released the breath she was holding. She thought she broke Sheldon when he took nearly a minute to respond.

-Conjunction

The reason for which

"I don't know why, but there's something there. Because you're different. I love the challenge you present." Penny explained, as best she could.

-Noun

1. A question concerning the cause or reason

2. The cause of reason

The situation was most troublesome for Sheldon. Penny's reasons why were just causing more questions than answers.

"Penny, how have I challenged you? I treat you just the same as the others."

"Because you hugged me when I gave you Leonard Nimoy's napkin even though you don't like human contact."

"Penny you know the reason…"

"Plus you helped me with my Penny Blossoms." Penny cut him off.

"Because you asked and I wasn't…."

"You drank coffee! Even though you told your mother you wouldn't do drugs!" Penny laughed.

"Penny those are still not viable answers."

"Why, you drive me crazy and I can't get enough of you!" Penny yelled with her hands in the air desperately trying to get her point across.

Sheldon froze at Penny's outburst. His mind was racing again.

-Interjection

Used to express surprise, impatience, indignation, etc.

"Sheldon are you alright? You're starting to freak me out" Penny's brows knitted together at Sheldon's now lack of expression.

Looking at Penny's beautifully confused face, Sheldon pushed away all the reasons why he shouldn't like Penny back and focused on the reasons why he too in fact likes Penny. She drives him to the comic book store. She sang "Soft Kitty" for him. He enjoys making Penny Blossoms while singing with her. She gets his food order right. She plain out puts up with his crap.

"Penny…" Sheldon shyly whispered.

"Yes Sheldon?" Penny reached out and touched Sheldon's arm.

"I like you too."

"Really? Why?" Penny smiled brightly, pulling Sheldon in for a hug.

"Because you answered all my reasons why." Sheldon rested his head atop Penny's hugging her tightly.
