One Day L Went Walking

One day L went walking; it was a bright and sunny day

On a street of cobblestones, on it he walked that way

He walked for miles, barefoot, too

Till he found himself far away

In a land of mystical enchanted things

So he decided to stay

"What a strange and wonderful place," said L quietly to himself.

"Could it be," L said, "That I have died?

"And gone to Heaven today?"

But no! For still in the alien world

His cell phone worked "It's a miracle!" he gasped

"I must tell Watari, and Raito, too!

"About this strange and wonderful place!"

L called them up, but nobody was there

And decided to explore a bit

He walked over hills and blue pastures

Until he came upon a lake

And in this lake, the lake of pink

An isle sat in there

L waded to it, the island, of course

For the lake was not very deep

He tasted the water, but surprise! It was not!

L concluded it was lemonade.

On top of the island sat a tree

The tree was laden with cake.

L gaped in wonder; "I've really died!

"God has taken me away!"

He sat beneath the cake-tree and

Browsed the heavy branches

"Devil food, pumpkin, cheese…

"Birthday, tiramisu."

L circled the tree, once or twice

So many choices to see!

"It's like an environmental bakery!"

L finally chose a fluffy white cake

Topped with a strawberry.

The from out of the sky dropped a sheet

L caught it with an outstretched arm

"If you wish to take this wonderful tree home,

Take this letter, and bury it in dirt at home

Shower it with love and care

Water it daily with 2 parts tea and 3 parts lemonade

And sprinkle with sugar for taste."

L folded up the letter, and stood up straight

My, how his posture improved!

"I shall," L declared, "O sweet letter. I will return home!"

He waded back through the lemonade lake,

And passed through the pastures of blue

L searched and looked for the cobblestone street

And followed it all the way home

"Where were you?" demanded an impatient Raito

Upon the detective's return

"Kira has struck again! Can't you see?"

L but merely nodded.

He buried the letter in a flower pot

And watered it with lemonade and tea

The Taskforce watched, and soon enough

A plant started to appear

"Behold! My friends. This is the truth!

The spoils from an unknown land!"

L sprinkled the sapling, which was growing fast

With sugar as fine as sand

Raito, Aizawa, the rest of the team

Watched in awe as it grew

"Cake!" gasped Matsuda, eyes wide in surprise

"L, you are too smart!"

"Indeed," said L, "It is cake. We must shower it with love and care."

Within the next day, the tree grew tall

It reached L's shoulder by then

The branches were laden with sweet creamy cakes

"An environmental bakery!"

The Taskforce enjoyed the finest of cake

L was especially glad

"It was thanks to the notion

That put me into motion

To go walking that day."

L smiled happily, chewing his cake

"One day L went walking."
