"Where are we going?" James asked.
Alice pulled him by the hand. "To see a spectacular light show."
"Light show?" James queried.
Alice looked back at her boyfriend. "Fireworks. It's a Muggle holiday, and they celebrate it by setting off fireworks. I've seen them a couple of t imes, and they're always beautiful to watch."
James furrowed his eyebrows. "And you know so much about Muggle fireworks because...?" he asked. Alice was as Pure-blooded as James after all.
"Lily introduced me to them. When she was still talking to me."
They fell into a silence, but it wasn't comfortable like it usually was. It was strained because of a girl who spent years telling James she didn't want him and he was nothing more than arrogant toe-rag. But then she changed her mind when James no longer showed interest and began dating a different girl.
Then Lily had the gall to get angry at Alice for not being afraid when it came to going out with a guy she liked, unlike Lily who did everything she could to push James away.
Now Lily refused to talk to either of them. James really didn't care because her only words to him in the past were unkind. Alice had actually been friends with her, though, and James hated seeing how hurt his girlfriend was by Lily's actions.
He continued to allow her to pull him until they came to an open field. There were other people gathered as well. Most of them sat on blankets, but there were some in chairs or even standing.
They found a spot for themselves.
James looked around at the amicably chatting people before he looked back at Alice. "I always like experiencing new things, and it's even better that my first experience with fireworks will be with you."
Alice blushed prettily. "You say such corny things," she teased.
"I think you like me saying corny things."
"I don't hate it," she admitted as she tilted her head up.
James smiled before he sealed his lips over hers in a deep kiss.
They were interrupted by a loud booming sound. James broke the kiss to stare up at the sky has bright oranges, reds, greens, blues, purples, and yellows exploded in the sky.
He gasped.
"Isn't it awesome?" Alice breathed, her lips brushing his earlobe as she stood on toes to kiss his cheek.
"Awesome," he echoed, completely overwhelmed by the beauty of it.
He wrapped his arm around Alice's waist and the two of them enjoyed the show together.
