Our destines seemed to be intertwined
No other love greater than yours and mine
I protected you without you even knowing
Insults and disregard what you kept throwing.
I had to hide who I was; you tried to understand
Your fathers rulings seemed to have the upper hand.
When it came to love, you had your sweet Gwen
I had to hide mine and watch her die within
Into the lake is where she would stay
I shed tears at her watery – permanent grave.
Together, we watched many die.
Lancelot, perhaps, the most I would cry.
If love was a mountain, I gave you the sun
and at first, it appeared that you gave me none.
Over the years, we became close and attached
A best friend I thought I would have at last.
I was supposed to protect you until we grew old,
but, you hanged Mordred's love and he grew cold.
He now sided with Morgana and once again,
Your life was mine to defend.
He stabbed the sword deep inside of your skin,
You retaliated but in the end, he would win.
He laid dead, and your life, I tried to save.
I summoned the dragon to fly you away.
We were almost there; you almost drew your last breath.
I cried and clung onto you, regretting it could be your death.
Before you closed your eyes, I made a confession:
and now you have the answers to all your questions.
You didn't want to accept it at first, but then you did:
You forgave me for all the secrets I kept hid.
My best-friend, I did not want to put you on the boat.
I am sorry I failed you but Gwen received your note.
Camelot will need you again, when the time has come
I will wait here patiently to hear the battlefield drum.

Authors Note: I hope you enjoyed my portrayal of the relationship between Merlin and Arthur. I spontaneously wrote this. If there are any suggestions it is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
