For one of the first times in her adult life Robin was scared. Scared. Robin Scherbatsky was almost never scared. But she was now.
She had been ignoring her gut instinct for weeks now. She had been ignoring the mood swings, the nausea, the fact that her period was late. But she couldn't put it off forever.
Sitting on the bathtub, waiting, Robin thought about what she would do if it was positive. She never really wanted kids. She didn't dislike them, but they weren't her kind of thing.
She wouldn't even consider an abortion, Lily would kill her if she even thought about it. And could she really go through with an adoption, knowing that the only reason she was giving the child up would be because she was scared she would be a terrible mother.
Then Robin's thoughts turned to the paternity of the possible child. She assumed it was Barney's. She had always used protection with Kevin, and she and Barney had got a bit too much caught up in the moment.
And then the timer went off. Robin turned around slowly, to her fate. She picked up the test and looked at it. It was…..

Robin sat in the bathroom of Lily and Marshall's house in Long Island, breaking down inside. They couldn't leave her all alone! She needed Lily to help her deal with this pregnancy and the baby, when it came. She knew deep down she was being selfish, but if she ever needed her friends, this was the moment.
Knock, Knock, Knock.
She nearly jumped out of her skin, as her thoughts were interrupted by Barney knocking on the window. She had been avoiding him since she chose Kevin over him, because in a way she regretted the decision she made. She loved Barney, but Kevin was safe. It didn't surprise her when he asked if they were still friends. Robin was extremely relieved when he said that he wanted to be friends, but her comfort was interrupted when he started talking about how Ted tried to adopt a baby. It reminded her that she was pregnant with Barney's baby. She tried to keep the words down but she panicked as Barney said the words that she did not want to hear.
"Can you imagine me, being someone's Dad? Barney laughed.
And the words tumbled out. "I'm pregnant." Those two words that Robin was so scared of saying.
