The Freezing Moon

Tommy Pickles was stuck in school and it was Halloween. He along with his brother Dylan Pickles and his friends wished school was only half a day.

Right after lunch Tommy started feeling very ill. He told his math teacher he needed to see the nurse and his face was so pale the teacher didn't accuse him of faking sick.

When he got to the nurse's office he felt nauseated and was grateful he didn't throw up after the nurse put the thermometer under his tongue.

"101" the nurse told Tommy.

Tommy groaned and the nurse said "let me take your blood pressure."

The nurse wrapped the cuff around Tommy's arm and listened with her stethoscope while pumping it up.

The nurse told Tommy he was definitely sick because his vital signs were high.

Tommy complained "this sucks because now I'll miss out on the Halloween fun."

The nurse frowned but then called Didi Pickles to come pick him up. As soon as Tommy got home he got out of the car and puked in the driveway.

Didi whined "oh Tommy you couldn't make it to the toilet."

At 4:30 PM Dil Pickles entered Tommy's room and said "oh I can't believe the awful news that you have the flu and can't go out trick or treating. I'll get extra candy for you."

Tommy groaned and said "oh Dil don't mention candy. I'm so sick even the thought of eating candy makes me nauseous." Tommy coughed but then he found the strength to sit up.

Dil told him he'd get better soon and he'd share candy with him. Right when Dil headed out of Tommy's room he walked straight into the door.

"Ack" Dil remarked.

Tommy told Dil "you forgot to open the door before leaving Dil."

Dil laughed and said "sometimes I do that."

Tommy exhaled and then went back to sleep soon after Dil left.

Tommy soon found himself outside in the backyard. He was enjoying the cool breeze and dusk.

Then all of the sudden it got dark. Tommy was very surprised at just how fast it got dark. He looked up and he saw a big yellow Halloween Moon.

Tommy said out loud "it's night again."

Then he saw snow fall from the sky and cover the grass completely white. He was now in complete shock.

Then he turned around and saw icicles on the roof. The icicles started growing bigger and sharper every second.

He tried to open the back door but couldn't because it got locked somehow. He banged on the door.

"Mom, dad let me in!"

Suddenly he felt a presence. He turned around and looked up. He said out loud "everything is so dark. Everything is so cold."

He was staring at the moon and he could swear he could see a face on the moon. Soon the face on the moon began to move and change shape to an angry face.

Then a big burst of ice cold wind hit him and Tommy said out loud "follow the freezing moon" and the moon with a hideous look started coming at him. Tommy couldn't believe it but in five seconds the moon was right in his backyard. He was being sucked into the moon and he felt both nauseated along with a sudden morbid feeling that his family and closest friends were no longer alive.

"Fallen souls die behind my steps, following the freezing moon" said Tommy Pickles as the moon sucked him into eternal darkness.

Tommy woke up in his bed screaming and covered in a cold sweat.

Didi and Stu Pickles both rushed in and asked him what was the matter. Tommy just told them he had a bad dream but he believed his fever was gone.

Sure enough Tommy Pickles only had the 24 hour flu and Dil along with his three closest friends Chucky and the Deville Twins divided up their candy and shared with him.
