Daniel clutched the bouquet of flowers tightly as he waited patiently outside Henley's apartment. He promised Henley that he would take her on a date to the movies.

Glancing around at the nearby buildings, he noticed a tall figure staggering towards him. As the man approached Daniel, he pulled a small gun from his pocket.

"Give me your wallet" the man said, his speech slurred.

"Listen, I don't want any trouble" Daniel replied with false confidence as he reached for his cell phone. His mind raced as he tried to figure a way out of this.

"Give it to me" the man repeated forcefully. When Daniel didn't comply the man aimed the gun and fired.

Daniel gasped in shock as he fell to the ground, pain tearing through his abdomen.

The man looked around frantically as he grabbed Daniels wallet and ran out of sight.

Henley smiled excitedly as she walked out her front door and into the warm summer air. Her smile faded though, as she caught sight of Daniel.

"Danny!" she screamed as she ran over to a weak and bloody Daniel.

"Danny...Danny" she said as she knelt down placing his head in her lap. Tears streamed down her face as Daniels eyes fluttered open.

"I'm going to get help" Henley said as she got to her feet.

She stopped as Daniel grabbed her wrist weakly.

"Henley please" he took a painful breath "don't leave me"

Henley nodded tearfully as she knelt back down.

Tears softly streamed down her face as she realized just how injured Daniel was. He never begs, ever she thought to herself as she grasped Daniels hand tightly.

A small stream of crimson blood trickled out of the corner of his mouth.

"Henley" Daniel asked softly

"Yes Danny" she responded sadly

"I love you, I always have" he whispered

With that Henley felt the life slowly drain from his body

Henley sobbed loudly as she stared into the vacant eyes of the great J. Daniel Atlas.

"Danny please, please don't leave me" she sobbed as tears rushed down her face.

She placed a shaking hand on the cold and emotionless face of her love.

"I love you too" she whispered as a new rush of tears came streaming down her face.
