Another piece I did for a competition. I quite like this actually. And now I am starting to like Snape. I don't usually write anything but Harry/Ron/Hermione/Draco. (NOT AS A FOURSOME!) So this was something new. Hope you liked it. No idea how to categorise it though. :P

Lily
He was her first magical friend. Petunia didn't like him. But she did.

The first time he saw her, he was nine. She was kind. He liked her. She was his first and best friend. He had always loved her.
The first time he called her a mud-blood, he was fifteen. She glared at him, with tears in her eyes. She was hurt. He had hurt her.
Now, he watches her from a distance. She looks at him, with a gaze as cold as ice. He remembers a time when she was his best friend and he was hers. A time when they were young and innocent. He looked at her sitting by his side. He didn't like it. She was supposed to be his. They were meant to be together. Forever.
She barely glanced at him nowadays, too busy with him. He was there, beside her. For her. She loved him. He could see it. The sparkle in her eyes when she looked at him. And sometimes, when he could bare to look at him, he saw the warmth and affection in his every glance.
It made him jealous. The love they shared.
He wished things could have been different. But he knew the truth. He knew that he would never be that great. Never would be him. Never would be her choice. But sometimes, late at night, he closed his eyes, and wished, and daydreamed. And she would be by his side.

She wished it had been different. He had been her best friend. Maybe someday, somewhere else, they could be friends again.
