Samantha fiddle with her looks nervously, standing in front of her mirror. A quick glance at the clock told her it was 5:30 PM. She took a deep breath to calm herself. This was an important night. The 24th of Summer and one of the most romantics evenings of the year in Mineral Town. She would not screw another relationship up.
It had taken her a while to accept the fact that she was the one who had caused all the problems in her marriage to Grant. It was her fault, not his, that they had gotten divorced. Her fault that Grant got full custody of Kate. Her fault that he got the house. Her fault that she lost everything. She couldn't decide if that fact that she had gotten married and had Kate so young was good luck or bad. On the bad side she had spent almost all of her life in school or as a housewife. But on the other hand, she was still considered young enough to be a bachelorette here in Mineral Town. Young enough so that she could compete for the affections of men against the likes of Karen or Popuri. Young enough to start over.
Of course, just because she was starting over didn't mean she had changed everything. She was still Samantha. But now she was once again the young, unmarried bachelorette Samantha that she had been so briefly before. It had taken some getting used to but she had gotten there, even if she did occasionally hear the echoes of her past. As she made her way to the beach her nervousness increased. She arrived before him. She wasn't surprised; if she was anything she was punctual. He had only recently arrived in Mineral Town. Well, relatively recently. He had inherited the old farm and was determined to make something of it. But people assimilated quickly in Mineral Town; she herself was proof of that. But while the only other man that showed any interest in her was Won it seemed that every other eligible girl in town was after him. Yet, he had chosen her. So far, at least.
She saw him coming towards her. Taking a deep breath she turned to greet him.
Samantha dressed herself in her nightclothes and fell down onto her bed. It had gone perfectly.
