FIRST TIME IN LOVE
"Kari, can I ask you something?" 9-year old Yolei said. Her 8-year old friend Kari nodded. The two were having a sleepover like they sometimes did.
"Sure, Yolei." Kari said, curious of what the other girl was going to ask.
"What does love feel like?" Kari thought this over for a minute.
"I think it's when you feel like you want to be with someone forever & ever." Kari said. For some reason Yolei started crying. "Yolei are you o.k.?"
"No! I'm not!" Yolei cried in anger.
"What's wrong? You can tell me anything, you know that right?" Yolei nodded her head
"I know that. I'm sad because I'm weird & strange & different & stuff." Yolei whispered.
"Why? Because you were born with purple hair? Didn't I tell you before? You can't change that. It actually looks very cool & it makes you very pretty."
"It's not that, Kari. I have a crush... on a girl." She broke into tears. Kari rushed to comfort her friend.
"Oh, don't worry Yolei. It's o.k." Yolei's sobs finally slowed down.
"Really? You don't care? But there's one thing I didn't mention...." Yolei muttered under her breath.
"What did ya say? I couldn't hear you?" Kari asked.
"I said that girl that I like is you, K-K-Kari." Yolei looked like she was going to cry again. Kari took Yolei's left hand & held it in her own hands.
"Oh Yolei. I'm honored that you like me but even if we weren't both girls, we're too young to date." Kari said.
"Yeah.I know. Kari, you wanna know something? My first time in love is with a great friend." Yolei smiled hapily. Kari returned the smile.
~4 years later~
"AAHH!" Yolei screamed as Davis, T.K., Kari, & another older boy popped out of the computer. Kari landed straight in Yolei's arms. Yolei embraced her friend without even meaning to.
"Hey, Yolei. I think we're old enough now." Kari whispered as she looked up into Yolei's eyes. Yolei nodded. They both smiled.
