Love and Friendship
Author's Note: I don't own anyone apart from Jade!
I sat in the car tapping my fingers against the car window. Today I was adopted by Evie Mercer adoptive mother of Jack, Bobby, Angel and Jerry Mercer. I was just thirteen years old when my father started hitting my mum. The social services were called in and I got taken away from my parents. I didn't get along with anyone who fostered me. Until I met Evie who said she would take me in as she had down with her other boys. Suddenly Evie's voice brought me out of my thoughts.
"Jade, we're here," she told me quietly. I looked through my steamed up window to see an ordinary brick house with a neat front garden covered in snow. It was the 25th November 2002 I came to live with the Mercers. I unbuckled my seatbelt and opened the car door. I started shivering because it was cold and I wasn't wearing a coat. Evie took my hand and guided me towards the house.
"Now Jade, don't you worry about the boys, they'll be nice to you," she told me in a reassuring voice.
"Evie, do you mind if I call you mum?" I asked her.
"Of course not, she replied with a smile, "All my other boys do it."
Evie opened the door and there stood four boys looking very bored.
"Finally Ma, we were starting to get bored," one of them said.
"Boys this is Jade," Evie told them. "Jade this is Bobby, Jerry, Angel and Jack. I smiled at all of them and shook hands with them.
"Jade you will be staying with Jack because he is one year older than you." Evie told me.
"Oh Jade, you might want to watch Jack, he's a bit of a fairy!" Everyone laughed except for Jack, Jade and Evie.
"Bobby that's enough!" Evie told him sternly.
Jack had stalked out of the room carrying Jade's bags so Jade followed him. He dumped her bags on the spare bed and picked up his guitar sat on his bed and started strumming a tune.
"Wow, you play guitar!" I said to Jack because he was pretty good.
"Yeah do you know how to play?" I nodded to his question and he got up off his bed and walked over to his cupboard and pulled out a spare guitar. He passed it to me and said
"Here, you can have it I don't use it anymore. Oh and thanks for not laughing when Bobby teased me." He said with a small smile. I took the guitar from his hands and set it on my bed. I then got up and pulled Jack into a bear hug and whispered to him
"Thank you Jackie! Nobody's ever given me a present before!" I let go of him just as Evie shouted
"Kids, come down! Dinner time." I kissed Jack on the cheek and walked out of the room smiling because I had got a present. It wasn't just the guitar I was pleased about, I had a friend for the first time in my life.
