I was inspired by Death from Discworld :D If you don't know him - watch the movie "Hogfather" or "The Colour of Magic" - Death is awesome!
It was a stormy November night as Death decided to visit the Headmasters Office of Hogwarts once again.
The office, only lit by the flames of a few candles by this time of the day, was silent, except for the steady scratching of a quill on parchment.
It was no big effort for Death to make a silent approach, he was Death, after all, a being not entirely from this world, but it did not matter now. The resident of the office had already registered his presence and was looking up from his parchment.
"What a pleasant surprose to have you visiting me again, my friend," Albus Dumbledore said in his usual calm voice, showing no hint of surprise of having Death standing in the middle of his office. It was something Death was not entirely used to – most of the people he visited did not see or hear or feel him coming.
"It has been a long time, indeed," Death replied, his bone fingers loosely closed around the handle of his scythe.
"Have a seat, my friend," Albus said, gesturing towards the chair on the opposite site of his huge mahagony desk. "Tea? I can imagine you had some work to do earlier? Normally you are here earlier."
"I must apologise, then. Even though it was hard to draw myself away from the muggle costume party I was attending, they were about to give me the award for the best costume."
"Oh, I bet they were," Albus teased, letting a tray with cups, a teapot and some biscuits appear on the desk.
"I can only admit once again that I have grown fond of you humans... you are odd beings, but still you are amusing. And Albus, I am really enjoying our little tea parties and the discussions."
Death regretted that he was not able to smile at the old man sitting opposite from him and took a biscuit from the tray. Albus nodded at him in respect, taking a sip from his cup before talking again.
"My friend, I am enjoying this just as much as you do. And I feel honoured about being able to experience this sympathic side of you – you would really have a different reputation in the world of the living if everybody knew that you are always making visits to my office even though I have no intend of dying at the moment. Now tell me, did anything interesting happen lately?"
