AN: Prompt number 36 - "I hate water".

"You're kidding, right? Please tell me you're kidding, Princess."

Kairi put her hands on her hips, fixing Axel with the sternest look she could muster. "Have you ever been sailing before? No. So stop complaining until you have."

Axel suppressed the complaint he wanted to make, knowing that Kairi would deliberately keep them out on the water even longer if he voiced any more opinions. She'd decided that if they were going to live on Destiny Islands, he was going to learn how to sail. She'd learnt as a child, and had frequently borrowed one of the boats to go over to the paopu island, where she, Sora and Riku had played. Now, it was Axel's turn, but he'd done nothing apart from moan all the time she'd been setting up the boat.

"Get in."

He looked dubious. Kairi pushed him, and he landed face first in the bottom of the small sailing boat.

"Sit there, and remember to keep your head down."

Thinking he should have worn a crash helmet, he settled himself on the seat she indicated. "I hate water," he muttered quietly to himself.

After being hit sharply on the head twice as the boom swung across, Axel crouched down as low as he could possibly get. He had a new-found respect for Kairi, since handling the boat looked a lot more complicated than he'd initially thought. When the boat finally reached the island, he lurched unsteadily onto the beach, suppressing the urge to throw up. Kairi sat at the tiller of the boat, laughing at him.

"You'll get used to it, Axel."

"I don't want to experience it enough to get used to it, thank you."

He sat down on the sand, relieved that he was off the water. Kairi sat down next to him, resting her head on his shoulder as he wrapped his arms around her.

"When you feel up to it, Axel, we have to get back."

If it were possible for him to turn even paler, he would have done. He'd been so relieved to reach land that he'd totally forgotten about the return journey.

AN: Axel seemed like the obvious choice for the person who hates water. Click the button and leave a review - you know you want to.
