"Ivan, wait!"

The words reached my ears just before I left Zephyr Town for work. Turning, I saw Anita running to me, so I stopped and waited for her. She came to a halt right next to me.

"Ah, good!" She said between breaths in that melodic sing-song voice of hers. "I was afraid I'd miss you!"

I'm always missing you.

"Nope, you always seem to be right on time." I said with a half-forced smile on my face.

"It seems so." She began to rummage through her bag, and then pulled out a Toy Flower, one of my favorites. "Here you go! Have a nice day!" She smiled, showing just how beautiful she could be.

It's always a good day when you're around.

"Thank you." I took the flower and put it in my coat's chest pocket. "I'm sorry, but I'll have to go now if I don't want to be late."

Though, I'd like to stay with you forever.

"Oh! Sorry to have held you up." She glanced at her watch then back at me. "I better go too. Dirk and I are celebrating our anniversary at the Café in a little bit."

This time my smile was fully forced. "Congratulations on a year together."

"Thanks! Well, don't be late to your job. Goodbye!" With that, she turned and walked away from me.

Too bad you're already taken.

[A/N] Ending notes! This is my first half-angsty fic (although I wouldn't call it full angst…). This actually started out as a fluffy fic, but then I just kept writing and got this. I might write the original idea as a sequel if I can make it work like I plan to.
