Author's Note: A short poem-ish thing spawned by watching The Chronicles of Riddick

Standard 'Please Don't Sue Me' Statement: Would anyone believe me if I tried to claim Riddick or his 'verse as my own?... didn't think so. I'm just playing, and promise to put 'em back when done.

He is...

He is the alpha. For among all men, there is no better, no equal.
He is the omega. For he will stand when all others have fallen.

He is the last of his kind.
Because it was his destiny. Because it was his choice.
Because he would accept any death but his own.

Then he met Jack. And then he met Kyra.
And something changed. His rules changed.

On a world of incinerating daylight and frozen shadows, he hesitated.
He slowed his pace, the only pace, because he couldn't leave her behind.
And then he did something more than hesistate.
He went back. For her.

Back into an inferno of sunlight.
And back to a planet of enemies.

Because he couldn't leave her behind.
Not on a dark planet of darker monsters that sought her flesh.
Not on a ruined world of dead monsters that sought her soul.

Somewhere along the way, somehow when no one else had ever managed,
She got to him. Reached him. And became his.
And no one took what was his. Ever.
Those that tried, bled - then breathed their last.
