Chloe´s POV
Fire. That's all I felt inside of me. Fire. Everywhere. I had been running for miles. My nostrils flared as my breath started to quicken. I reach my hand up and wipe off the thin layer of sweat rolling off my forehead. I feel the rush of wind move through my hair as I sped up, moving through the forest with ease. I looked ahead keeping my eyes sharp and focused on my target. There he is. I spot the enormous buck as his white tail flicked up through the forest. He jumps over fallen tree branches and rocks. I had been tracking him for hours and I was finally able to catch up to him.
I grab my bow wrapped around my chest lifting it up as I continue running. The buck takes a sharp turn and exits the tree line running into a field of tall grass. I follow after him soon exiting as well before reaching back to grab an arrow. They were my own hand crafted with sharp steel tips and the best feathers I found in the forest; I never used any other type of arrow for kills on my hunts. I lined up my arrow with the bow string stopping suddenly in the field to take my stance. Pulling back the arrow I lined it up with the bucks heart before letting the arrow fly. The buck let out a panicked scream before collapsing to the ground. I watched before lifting my bow over my head to rest on my shoulders. I move aside my jacket grabbing my knife holstered on my thigh flipping it as I jog through the field. The tall grass coming up to my knees as I move through spotting the deer up ahead.
I kneel down beside the deer laying my hand gently on the bucks cheek. My hand only taking up a small space on his jaw. I bow my head slightly in respect before grabbing my arrow lodged in his ribs. I pull it out quickly and shake the blood off before putting it back in my quiver. I grab my hunting knife and wrapping paper before starting to work on skinning and collecting meat. I saw off the antlers wrapping them up as well. After I finished wrapping up all the meat I place it in my carrying pack and pull out my water. I start to wash off my hands and knife before collecting all my things.
¨Arthur will be pleased with this pelt.¨ I stand and take a deep breath closing my eyes as the wind picks up moving through my hair and clothes. I lean my head back letting the sun warm my face as the cold breeze sends small blissful chills up my spine. I look around enjoying the scenery for the fall season from the way the leaves fall to the ground to the way the breeze picks up my hair almost as if the wind itself has hands. I let my body relax before my ears perk up hearing the sound of crows and vultures squawking as they fly here. I open my eyes back up looking around briefly before starting to make my way back to town. As I walk through the field the uneasy feeling of being watched comes upon me.
I move my hair under my cloak and lift both my hood and mask only leaving my eyes to be seen. My eyes scan the forest not moving my head as I hold onto the strings of my bag. Suddenly there are heavy footsteps coming from behind me; they seem to be running at full speed. I flung my bag to the side and spin around bring my fist up to fight. The stranger comes running at me with their fists raised, his face covered from the hood. I grab their hand, twist the wrist and bend back their arm before sweeping their legs out from under them. I pull their arm up as they fall onto their back sinking down to press my knee into their throat. They struggle underneath me as I pull on their arm harder. The stranger pulls their hood back and I instantly notice the man I have pinned to the ground. This idiot.
¨Jesse what the hell! Are you trying to get yourself killed?¨
I ask letting go of him quickly before removing my hood then kneeling next to him. His face is red and he laughs trying to catch his breath. Jessie sits up holding his neck as he smiles at her.
¨Well shit Chloe. I wanted to see if I could sneak up on you; I didn't know you'd manhandle me like that.¨ He laughs coughing slightly before fixing his hair. I shake my head giving him an apology before standing up giving him a hand.
¨How was your hunt? Did you get anything good.¨ He asks going to pick up my bag for me. ¨Well damn Chloe. Did you take out a bison?¨ He says lifting the heavy bag handing it to me.
¨The deer I tracked down was massive; all this meat will last me for a few months.¨ I smile lifting the bag up on my back. ¨Nice job. I managed to get more squirrel and raccoon skins for Arthur.¨ He says proudly hoisting his bag up as well. ¨Let's start heading back before it starts getting dark. Race you there?¨ Jesse smiles and pushes me as he starts to run off. I stumble to the side before standing up. ¨Hey dickhead that's cheating.¨ I scream after him before starting to take off running after him. What we both didn't notice was the stunning wolf at the top of the hill looking down at us with sharp grey/blue eyes.
Beca´s POV
(One Hour Earlier)
Where am I? I open my eyes slowly seeing the trees behind me covering the blue sky above me. Oh I guess I fell asleep after my run.I sit up slowly rubbing my eyes and running my hand over my neatly braided hair. I sigh softly as the breeze picks up against me. I look up seeing the small crystal lake only fifteen feet away from my feet. I lift up my head arching my back to stretch and crack my tight joints before standing up. I brush off my clothes before catching a whiff of my scent. I smell gross.
I look over at the lake and shrug my shoulders before starting to strip out of my dirty cloths. I undo all the little braids in my hair shaking it out before walking towards the pebbled shore. I smile feeling the soft sand and smooth rocks moving between my toes. I step further in gasping softly at the temperature of the lake. Goosebumps raise all across my skin as my body hair stands on edge. I inhale deeply closing my eyes to focus on raising my body temperature as I walk further into the water. Once I feel the water hit my chest I decide to start swimming further out a little more. I stop once I am a significant distance away from the shore. I dive under the water getting my hair wet before coming back up to float on the surface. I breath deeply looking up at the blue sky again noticing a few clouds start to form. Such beauty in the world.
I spread my arms out keeping balanced as I relax my muscles slightly to keep afloat on the surface. I feel the water droplets slowly roll down my face hitting the water as the sun beams down on my bare body. I close my eyes enjoying this feeling for the next few minutes. I never want to move again, not if it means losing this feeling.
I open my eyes slowly and smile before diving underwater and swimming back to the shore. I walk through the rocky sand again over to the pile of clothes. After drying off I pick them up and get redressed before moving back to the grass forest ground. I lay my hair out on the ground and let the sun dry it as much as possible. After a while I shake my head raking my fingers through my hair to get out any dirt or twigs left over. I sit up crossing my legs to start to rebraid it all taking my time. After I finish I look down laughing as my stomach rumbles low and deep. God I'm starving I guess I didn't notice it earlier. I pull back my shoulders stretching my back before jumping forward and transforming into my wolf form. I land on all four paws digging my toes and nails into the dirt feeling the same pleasure as from the lake shore. I take a deep breath shaking off any dirt before starting to walk deeper into the forest. My semi-long brown fur shows hints of red as the sun shines on me. I trot through the trees jumping over fallen limbs and climbing up small hills. As the wind picks up I catch the scent of a deer making its way toward me. I pick up my pace digging my nails into the ground to gain speed.
I stop seeing the tree line start to end as a tall grass field is now seen. I walk along the line smelling around catching the deers scent to be closer now. I crouch down to wait in the shadows for it to show. After a minute I see the deer come sprinting out of the forest and moving through the grass. I stand up and prepare to run after it before I'm stopped in my tracks when I catch the scent of a human and see a redheaded woman exit the forest as well with her weapons drawn. I crouch back down watching as the woman takes down the deer with ease.Incredible. I marvel at her skill keeping my distance as she works with her kill. I watch her stand looking peaceful as she enjoys the environment around her. Once she left I keep my body low as I walk over to the deer to get any scraps she left behind. I watched her walk away before a man tried to attack her. I watch the whole encounter between them noticing they knew each other after his attempt at an attack. I walk further into the field to get a better look as the pair walks away. I keep my eyes on the redheaded woman as she walks further into the woods eventually leaving my sight. Such beauty in a hideous world. I think before picking at the bones left behind before running off to find a bigger meal.
A/N: I'm gonna end this chapter here. This is a story i've wanted to write for a while so I hope anyone who reads it will enjoy it. Don't forget to leave reviews so I can use the feedback to make the story ten times better. I'll keep all the chapters about 1000-2000 words because I think it's the best for keeping a story going. Thank you all for reading and I'll see you in the next chapter!
