Title: Loves Me Not
Word Count: 268
Notes: RokuNami, hints of potential RokuShion - haters beware! Silly little clichés sprinkled throughout, so enjoy...

It's a cliché as old as the hills.

Naminé uproots a flower anyway, momentarily regretting the atrocity she's about to commit upon the natural aesthetic perfection as she eyes each blue-violet petal. She finds it... not ironic, because this doesn't quite fulfill the criteria of that definition, but fitting that the Memory Witch has chosen to break down a forget-me-not.

Not for the first time, but hopefully the last, it strikes Naminé that this is a rather silly idea. The unfortunate plant has already been torn away, though, and since she can't go back, she should at least attempt to be like her Other for once and continue moving forward. She inhales deeply, as if it's the last breath she'll ever take, and plucks the first petal from the bloom with ease.

He loves me...

He loves me not...

He loves me...

Naminé tries not to count ahead of herself; it feels as though all the magic would be lost if she did.

He loves me not...

He loves me...

"Naminé!"

The call comes from in front of her, and Naminé knows that it's Xion, hand in hand with Roxas, without looking up from the last petals. In the interests of time, she counts ahead subconsciously, eager to visit with—

Her heart falls.

He loves me not.

Naminé stares at the stripped flower, bitter bewilderment swirling in her new heart, and she looks up to see how happy he is just holding Xion's hand, then back at her handiwork.

Silently but firmly, Naminé tosses the bare plant and rises to join her friends with all her Other's poise.
