hey, before I begin, I want to warn you that there won't be frequent update. I'll be busy with work, other stories and a bunch of other things. I also want to give the readers a challenge. It's extremely simple. Write a rwby fanfic where one of member of the titular team have a different weapon. That's it. They can have a different weapon from the beginning or something could happen to their weapon, forcing them to replace it. to repeat myself, here's a boring reminder. Ruby can't have a scythe. Weiss can't have a rapier. Blake can't have a chain scythe or kusarigama. Yang can't have shotgun gauntlets. Other than that, everything is fair game. any pairings. Good, bad? doesn't matter as long as one weapon is different. i don't have any real prize to offer, but hope you accept anyways.

It's quite amazing how little humans truly know about the beings known simply as grimm. Despite both species being around for over thousands of years, the most humans know about grimm are how to kill them and basic behavior patterns. they still didn't know the answers to the big questions. who was first? humans or grimm? Where did the first grimm come from? How do grimm reproduce? So many question and yet no answers. However, there's one question that ring out above the rest. Are there any firstborns left? The reason people ask this was because it is generally accepted that as grimm age, they become smarter, stronger, and harder to kill. It is unknown if grimm can die from aging, so the thought of a grimm that is over thousands years of age is terrifying. The answer to this question is a simple yes, but there is a bigger story regarding a firstborn beowulf.

Said grimm was sleeping in a cave when he felt someone nearby let out a symphony of negative emotions. He could practically taste this person's fear, anger, and desperation. However he also felt something else. Something he haven't felt in nearly a century. Innocence. Pure untainted innocence. Curious, the firstborn got up and walked to the source. He saw two female humans, one blond and one with black hair with red tips. The blond was the source of the negative emotions, but the sleeping child was the one that caught his attention. Ignoring the blond, who fruitlessly tried to stop the firstborn grimm, he gently picked up the innocent child. Her eyes fluttered open for a second, long enough for the beowulf to see her silver eyes clearly. He paused, thinking about what to do with the child. He knew that this child would be important to the future, but he had to decide whether he wanted to interfer. He could either leave her be and hope she could take down his mother, Salem, or take her and raise her himself. Right now, The Grimm was divided between two fractions, both feared by humans. The majority were under the control of Salem and he was the leader of the minority. While Salem and her grimm wanted to destroy humanity, the firstborn thought that grimm and humans could live together. He already figured out how to satisfy his hunger without killing humans. Deciding that he couldn't take the risk that his mother surviving the inevitable war that was coming, he knocked the blond away from him and began walking away with the child. 'I supposed that I'll need to give you a name,' thought the grimm. Seeing the rose emblem on her cloth, he decided on the name, Rose. He also had another reason for taking the young silver eyed child. Unlike his mother, he had a limited lifespan, much like the humans that fear them. He knew that he was nearing the end of his mortal cycle, but he have yet to find a grimm worthy of taking his place as leader. Maybe he could raise young Rose to be that leader. There was one problem though. Rose was a human and despite wanting to coexist with humans, many grimm won't follow the orders of a human. Sensing a friendly nevermore nearby, the firstborn called her down. The grimm was clearly curious about the human child in her leader's arm, but didn't ask any questions. "Go to the spawning pits and bring me some of the liquid". The avian grimm said nothing as she flew off into the distance. "The first I'm teaching you is how to talk," he told the sleeping child as he entered the cave. Curling around the sleeping child to keep her warm, the firstborn closed his eyes.

(Timeskip)

It has been ten years since the firstborn grimm took Rose. In that time, a lot of things happened. First, the firstborn used the liquid from the spawning pool to baptize, for a lack of better words, Rose. Unknown to him, Rose had a small cut on her arm. This allowed the liquid to enter her bloodstream, changing her. Now as a half grimm, she was more easily accepted into the grimm. a bone mask began covering her left eye and her skin darkened. She developed the ability to grow bone-like plates of varying sizes and take on different attributes of different grimms. For example, one of her favorite is to sprout nevermore wings and fly around. This earned her the nickname the grimm angel by humans. The most interesting side effect of the change was Rose developing three different personalities. These personality were called Red, White, and Pink. He really wished he could go back and change it, but too late now. Red was her grimm instinct taking control. In this state, both of her eyes are a glowing red and she fights completely on instinct. This makes her more ruthless and aggressive, but also more predictable. White is her human side. In this state, her silver eyes shine bright and her fighting style is opposite to Red. More cautious, but less predictable. Pink is a combination of the two and the rarest of all the personalities. While he dislike the name, he can't deny that it fits. The color pink is a blend of red and white. Meanwhile, Pink, the personality, is a blend of the other two personalities, Red and White. When Pink is in control, her right eye is silver and her left is glowing red. She retains the aggressive style of Red, but also the unpredictability of White. With the exception of Pink, Red and White hardly get along, causing Rose to fight against herself. If all three personalities can learn to work together, the firstborn knew that his heir could beat nearly anyone. "Rose, come here please". He knew that his time was almost out, but despite his best attempts, Rose wasn't ready to lead the grimm. Hearing his adopted daughter walking toward him, he started talking, "My time is almost up. My body won't last much longer." The beowulf could hear liquid hit the ground and knew his daughter was crying. "I planned on passing the role of leader to you when I passed, but you are not ready yet." he turned his head to look Rose in the eyes. "Go west, across the sea and find the wizard. If you find yourself in a grimm filled forest, you're close".

"I don't want to learn from that bodysnatcher. I want to learn how to lead from you," Rose sobbed, her eyes changing every time she blinked. She wrapped her arms around her father's leg. The firstborn placed his large paw on his heir's head, causing the fourteen year old to look up.

"I wished I could stay longer as well, but I don't have a choice. Even now, I can feel myself breaking down," said the beowulf as he laid down. "promise me that you'll follow my last request and learn from the wizard". Rose didn't answer as she ran out of the cave. Spouting two large black wings, she turned and said something that brought a smile to the beowulf's face before he disappeared.

"I promised, dad"
