Into The Wolf's Den

On a warm, Friday afternoon in springtime, the Blitzkrieg Boys sat sloth-like in their living room. The low hum of their stereo was the only thing breaking what would've been an awkward silence. Why, Tala had just asked for the house to be empty for the next twelve hours. None quite knew the redhead's reason but they figured it.

"So when is she due?" came Kai from the farthest corner cushion of their grey loveseat. Spencer silently eyed the half-Russian warily from their brown recliner nearby, only for the other two next to Kai to give him the same look. Ian sat squished in the middle and Brian was on the other side.

"What?" Tala spoke from his standing position by the wooden coffee table.

Kai lazily looked up from his phone, his thumb stopping on the spot he was at. "You heard me. When is Magpie due to come over?"

"Tonight."

"Ok then."

Kai got up and went upstairs, his phone to his ear. Hell, no was he staying here. Not after last time.

That night, around six o'clock, there was a knock at the door. The blue eyed redhead's ears perked up at the sounds of barking and eager jumping.

He looked from his crockpot of meat to the door. From the kitchen's entryway, he could see their husky pup named, Jenna going ham on the painted wood. Her reddish chestnut and white coat were standing on end. She seemed excited about something and Tala could guess what, or this case who, it was. Leaving his food to do its thing, Tala went to the door.

He happily opened it to eye a luscious, 4'11 beauty, who was wearing a turquoise turtleneck tank top with light blue, boot cut jeans that hugged her curves. She was adorned with light makeup and upper back length dark brown hair. Her milk chocolate brown eyes sparkled with excitement. From halfway down, her hair was dyed a pale blue color, one that complimented her light skin perfectly, and her lover's eyes.

"Hey, Magpie, come in," Tala said, the joy evident in his voice as he moved aside for her. Maybe Kai's many lessons on gentlemanly behavior were finally good for something.

"What? No kiss hello? That's a bad way to greet your girlfriend of nearly two years." Magpie said while she walked inside.

Once inside, and Jenna told hello, Tala shoved Magpie against the door with a fiery kiss. Arms found their usual places around one another's bodies and held each other close as the kiss deepened.

Tala parted after a bit, the need for air hitting them both, but mainly him. "How's that for hello?" There was a hazy, lustful look to his features, and as always, it made Magpie melt.

"It's wonderful." She smirked and added, "Is there something you want from me?"

"Only if you're willing."

Her face reddened and she felt her heart flutter, her eyes hazing over like his. "Of course."

There was whining and a few small yelps, followed by some barking. The young couple looked toward the kitchen to see Jenna staring holes into them. She seemed envious and protective. Her blue eyes seemed to pierce them while her two-tone hair proofed up and out again.

"I think she's jealous," Magpie said, laughter escaping.

Tala smirked and said, "Seems so."

The familiar smell of cooking meat and its accompanying sauce wafted into the living room, making Magpie's mouth water. It'd been a while since she had that. Here lately, her nightly meals consisted of slightly seasoned pasta and a poorly roasted chicken.

"Do I still need to guess what we're having for dinner?" She asked, her boyfriend laying limply on the sofa, his head cozily in her lap.

He opened one eye and looked at her. "If you like?"

"Sweet Barbecue pork?"

"Bingo!" Tala let out while sitting up. "There's a couple of Chocolate Bailey's Irish Cream liqueurs in the fridge too... and something else." Tala gave her a playful wink and a quick peck on the cheek, getting up to both go check on and finish the food.

"Hold up?" Magpie said as she got up and headed to the kitchen.

"Want some help?" She asked as she approached him, Tala stirring the, now boiling, pot.

"Sure. You and Spencer should be best friends I swear. You guys were made for teamwork. Me? Not so much." He looked at her and leaned in, his forehead touching hers. "But for you, I'll always make an exception."

Magpie could feel her face heat up, as she went to grab the barbecue sauce bottles from the fridge. Tala definitely had a way with words. It took her about a year to learn his love language and what he truly meant by what he said. Tala was similar to Kai in some ways but more mouthy and didn't think before he spoke most days.

Closing the fridge, Magpie's mind clicked with an agape expression. Had she really seen that?! The twenty-two-year-old quickly opened it back and looked on the second shelf next to the half-gone gallon of low-fat milk.

Watching her from the stove Tala, who was twenty-four years old, couldn't help but let out a laugh. Magpie looked so cartoony. She momentarily made him think of Kai's bouncy one-year-old son, Gou who did the same thing at times. His girlfriend was absolutely adorable!

"You like what you see?" Came Tala's voice.

She shut it and looked at him excitedly. "Oh yeah." She turned to him and smirked, the gleeful glint swirling itself into desire. "But what I really like seeing is standing right in front of me."

"Is there something you want from me?" He asked, slightly mimicking her from before.

"Only if you're willing."

"Always."

Dinner went over well, with the two gettings full off of two pork sandwiches and half a bag of crips that Spencer had in the back of their packed pantry that sat flush against the wall of the hallway. On the television, was a movie that still brought tears to their eyes.

"You might think this sounds like a fairy tale. You might even laugh at my story. You probably think that stuff like this just doesn't happen. But everything I tell you is true. This is the story about my mother, and the wolfman she fell in love with." Said the young female narrator on the screen as a cityscape came into view.

2012's Wolf Children. This was one of their favorite movies. In fact, Tala had suggested it as their first date movie. Though he didn't mean to. It just pooped out. Back then he seemed just as excited and possibly nervous as she was. At first, she was surprised to find that Tala was an anime fan, but over time she grew to love his tastes just as much as he loved hers. He'd told her not to tell the guys and Magpie didn't. She understood his fears and wouldn't dare jeopardize what they were building.

When the movie reached the point where Hana was telling Child Protective Services to "Just leave us alone!" Tala took it upon himself to bring out the Irish Creams and the large chocolate pie plate sized pudding his love had gawked at earlier. Seriously, she reminded him of a bunny sometimes.

"Here you are, my little Birdy," Tala said as he rounded to corner and sat the items down on the coffee table in front of them. Magpie blushed at hearing the pet name he'd given her soon after dating. He didn't use it often but when he did, she became a school girl again.

"He's worse than a momma sometimes but I can't blame him."

Tala looked at her, knowing she'd figured out what he was doing. He was being extra sure to use the coasters and nonslip mat Spencer had bought and immediately set out over a month ago. They both knew neither needed another five-hour lecture on the battle of water rings vs wood grain from said man.

"Yeah he means well but it's still annoying. We're all adults, aren't we?"

His company gave him a sarcastic smile and said, "Says the man who still refuses to accept fairytales aren't compatible with real life."

Tala shrugged uncaringly at her comment. "So what If I believe in fairytales more than most adults?" He took a sip of his drink and set it down. "I have proof that they are." He watched as Magpie did the same, though she drank a bit more than he did.

"Really, and what proof is that?" She said, her buzz kicking in.

"You of course," he answered, sounding just as confident as before.

Magpie's heart fluttered and skipped a few beats. She was so lucky! Before she could say anything however, a pair of lips crashed down onto her in the sweetest way possible.

In a matter of seconds, it was silently decided what would be done for the remainder of their time together. The pudding and half-empty drinks were put away, then the two headed upstairs, the leader of their little pack holding his mate in his strong arms.

The next morning, sunbeams from the adjacent window greeted Magpie as she opened her eyes. Feeling a heat shift next to her, she stiffened but then moved herself to see Tala stirring beside her.

He opened his eyes and said, "Hey, have fun last night?"

A hand reached out and soon an arm eased her into his warm chest. A smile graced her lips as relaxed into him. Of course she did.

In mere moments, Tala found himself on his back... again... and saw a playful glint in his partner's eyes. He smirked, a single fang poking through. What was she planning?

"What?" He asked, pretending not to know.

She leaned down for a kiss, but right when their lips brushed, the busty woman pushed herself up and dashed out of the room. A playful giggle escaped as she wrapped and tied a fluffy pink robe around her frame.

Tala looked at her back like he'd just been dumped and then chased after her. This wasn't the first time he'd fallen for her enticing trick but he certainly would let her know he was one for administering paybacks.

Hearing the chatter of familiar voices, Magpie stopped at the entrance of the kitchen and saw the remaining boys tucking themselves in for breakfast. They were talking in Russian so she couldn't pick up on what they were saying entirely but from what she was seeing, Kai showing off the baby pictures in his wallet, it was clear he was bragging and the others were egging him on about bringing Gou by for a visit later. She watched as he nodded and she guessed they were entertaining another child. The other one to watch, just so he wouldn't end up on Brian's "hit list" was Ian. The shortest of the bunch loved pulling pranks and often found himself in some form of hot water with everybody at least twice a week. He was lucky to be alive honestly.

She jumped when she felt arms wrap around her and cold lips on her neck. A slew of chuckles erupted while Magpie squirmed to break free. They knew how much she hated cold lips on her skin. Why was no one helping her?!

In time, things had settled down and thankfully the conversations from there were all in English. Over pancakes, jokes were tossed and Ian asked questions about their date, earning him a slap upside the head from Spencer; the Mommy of the group. All in all, Magpie felt at home and safe around every one of them, regardless of what was going on. Though deep down she dreaded whatever pranks Ian would undoubtedly pull at any time.

The End.
