A/N: This is just a little oneshot I wrote after watching the Madeleine Kahn episode in Season 2. I don't know how it fits into the canon introduction of Camilla, because I don't remember what episode she was first in or if they documented how she and Gonzo met. I know this doesn't fit in with the Muppet Movie edition of things, but still. As you may have guessed, this is my take on how Gonzo and Camilla met, in the show's 'verse.

You may want to re-watch the episode before you read this if you don't remember Gonzo's song. The ending won't make much sense if you don't.

Disclaimer: I own nothing about The Muppets, Gonzo the Great, Camilla the Chicken, Madeleine Kahn (although no one really owns her) or The Muppet Show. Please don't sue me. I have no money.

Madeleine laughed, a clear, high-pitched sound accompanied by a brilliant smile. It was music to Gonzo's ears. He looked up at her cheerful face and considered how she didn't look a bit like she did on television. She's much more stunning in person, he thought.

She thanked him and walked away, still chuckling about the magician's handkerchief. Despite the song he had sung and the assurance he had given Ms. Kahn that he was alright, Gonzo couldn't help but feel melancholy over the whole situation. True, maybe he had overreacted to her compliment, but he still longed for someone to share his life with. Someone more than a friend who he could be himself around, who would understand and accept him even when he didn't understand or accept himself. It didn't seem too selfish a request, but apparently he was wrong.

He sighed, hopping off the crate he had been seated on, and glanced up at the dressing rooms at the top of the landing, one marked Guest and the other Miss Piggy. He could always go back to admiring the sultry pig – but no, not the way he had unintentionally insulted her earlier. Besides, she would never be interested in him; she had eyes only for Kermit. Lucky frog, the blue creature thought glumly.

His thoughts were interrupted by a dainty squawk. He tore his eyes away from the dressing room doors, and his gaze settled on a fit young chicken, staring curiously at him, her head cocked to the side. He didn't have time to wonder how he hadn't heard her come in, because once she determined she had his attention, she launched into a series of rapid clucks, informing him that she and her friends were there to audition for Kermit.

"Oh, I see. What kind of act have you got?"

"Puckuck."

"Singing? Cool!" Gonzo looked onstage. "Well, I think Kermit's wrapping up the show right now, but if you'd like to wait in his office…" He gestured to the room ahead.

"Brawk."

"You're welcome."

He heard Madeleine thanking Kermit and figured he'd join the pair onstage. As he headed for the stage entrance, he glanced back at the chicken and could have sworn he saw her blush before she ducked into the boss' office. His cheeks flushed, though it wasn't visible due to the blue fur on his face.

So maybe he wasn't going to marry Madeleine Kahn. Maybe there was someone better for him that he hadn't met yet. Or maybe he had met them.

He did know one thing - there were other butterflies in the sky.
