Sam had it all planned out.
They would live in California, he would attend Stanford and Dean would do whatever made him happy. There would be no more moving, no more hunting, no more evil, no more weapons and no more fear. They would get a small, cheap apartment near campus, hit the beach on weekends and make friends they could keep and not lie to.
They would be together and safe and life would be good.
Sam had it all planned out until Dean uttered the two words that would send Sam crashing back down to reality.
"I can't."
