Chapter 1
"Damn it feels good to be badass!" Beast boy exclaimed, flopping down onto the couch in the titan tower living room. Robin and cyborg followed suit, collapsing onto the couch.
"What shall we do now friends?" Asked starfire. Still new to earth customs, she was always curious as to what the team enjoyed doing while not fighting off their enemies.
"I think we're going to order a pizza, watch some tv." Said robin.
"Pizza? Boyah!" Yelled cyborg, reaching for the phone next to the couch. "I got pepperoni. Beast boy I know you want vegetarian, Robin wants cheese. Raven, what do you want?" Cyborg looked towards the pale skinned girl, who was walking towards the living room exit.
"Nothing for me. I'm just going to be in my room." Raven hardly ever 'hung out' with the team. Ever since she had discover her telepathic link with the demon Trigon, she avoided the team. Even after the link was severed, she had always been a loner. "I'm going to be in my room, meditating."
Raven spent a lot of time meditating, most of her time off she spent alone in her room, trying her best to contain and control her powers better.
"Oh but raven, we are going to be eating earth pizza. Do you not wish to join us?" Starfire smiled towards the caped girl. Raven couldn't help but smile. Maybe it was because starfire was the only other girl on the team, maybe it was because she wasn't a human either, but starfire just had something about her that could always make raven break her normally stoic expression. Raven quickly hid her face underneath her hood, not wanting the team to see her blushing cheeks.
"No thanks Star. I'll just go to my room."
Starfire, always the cheery titan, just smiled a bit smile and waved. "Goodnight friend raven."
Raven held up her hand, the closest thing to a wave she would manage. As the rest of the titans kicked off their boots and laid back on the couch, raven quietly walked back to her room, phasing through the door.
Ravens abilities far surpassed the rest of the team. She could phase through walls, shoot dark energy blasts from her hand, move objects with her mind. At the height of her powers, she could even freeze time. Though she was far more powerful than any enemy the team had faced, her powers were still sometimes unpredictable. She always confined herself to her room, reading spell books and ancient texts, trying to learn more about how to control her powers. She did her best to remain emotionless and distant at all times. The last thing she wanted to do was hurt anyone else on the team.
Raven had spent an unknown amount of time floating above her bed, mediation often cause her to not notice the passing of time. It wasn't until there was a knock on her door that she broke from her trance. Still hovering above her bed, legs crossed, she called out.
"Who is it?" She tried her best not to sound upset.
"It is me friend Raven." Starfire voice came from the other side of the door. "I have saved you a slice of the food that cyborg calls 'peet zah'. May I come in?"
Wordlessly, raven waved her hand, causing the mechanical door to slide open. In the doorway, starfire stood holding a small plate with a slice of pizza in it. In her other hand, she held a glass of water. Upon the door opening, Starfire smiled and walked into the dimly lit room. Raven often meditated in the dark.
"I am sorry if I have disturbed you from your meditation time. I did not want you to go to sleep while you are hungry." Starfire said as she walked over to the bed. Raven slowly floated down until her butt torched the mattress, her legs unfolding to lay out on the bed.
"You didn't disturb me Starfire, I was about done anyway." Raven gave a small smile to the orange skinned girl. Starfire had bright orange skin, and flaming red hair. Starfire's uniform consisted of a tightly fit purple top, and a skin hugging purple skirt. She normally wore knee high purple boots, along with arm length purple gloves, though she had discarded them upon returning from the days mission. She stood barefoot in front of raven holding out the plate of food and cup of water.
Raven reached forward and took the food and drink from raven, smiling. Raven wore a skintight black one piece, with long sleeves that went all the way down to her fingers. The one piece hugged her skin, but left her legs completely exposed, except for a pair of blue boots. Normally she wore a long flowing dark blue cape and hood which covered her shoulder length dark purple hair, but when she was alone in her room, she didn't feel the need to cover herself so much. Her cape and boots sat nearly folded on a chair next to her desk, which was covered in spell books.
Starfire was the only titan that ever went into Raven's room. Not that the other titans weren't allowed, they just all knew that Raven likes to keep to herself. A concept that Starfire was oblivious to.
"Well goodnight friend Raven. I wish that you sleep well tonight." Starfire waved to Raven, as she walked towards the door to the hallway. Raven's lips curled into a tiny smile, as she waved back, watching starfire walk into the hall as the mechanical door slid closed. Moments later, Raven could hear another door slide open, then shut. Starfire's room was right next to Raven's. The girls slept on one side of Titan tower, Cyborg, Robin, and Beastboy slept on the other. A fact Raven appreciated, due to Cyborg and Beastboy often loudly playing video games into the wee hours of the morning.
Raven the her pizza slowly at her desk, looking over an ancient spell book from the 16th century. Reviewing old spell was one of ravens favorite, and few, pastimes. After looking over a text about an invisibility spell, raven finished her pizza, and felt sleep overcoming her. Silently, she floated out of her chair and towards her bed. One of the benefits about her ability to phase through objects, was that raven didn't have to spend much time dressing or undressing. She simply phased out of her clothing, her black one piece falling to the floor, leaving her in nothing but a black set of bra and panties. She floated down to the bed, laying her body down onto the soft mattress, allowing sleep to take her.
Raven was awoken from her slumber by a beeping noise. She tried her best to ignore it, but the noise continued. She grumpily rolled over, searching for the noise. The beeping was coming from her communicator, which was laying on a small table next to her bed. Still groggy from sleep, she opened the device, the bright screen momentarily blinding her. After her eyes had adjusted, she looked down to the screen, noticing s message from Starfire.
Starfire: Raven, come to my room please. I have seen something on the flat information box, and I have many questions!
Laptop. She means laptop. Cyborg had given Star a laptop to research more into earth culture, something she did very often. As much as raven wanted to ignore the message and go back to sleep, Starfire was her friend, and the only titan she really 'liked'. Raven rolled out of bed, her bare feet touching the carpeted floor. Not wanting to put her whole getup back on, she simply wrapped herself in a blanket from her bed, and walked towards her bedroom door. Which a mechanical swish, the door opened, and she walked out into the hallway, turning towards starfire's room. The doors were only about 10 feet apart, but still tired, raven felt like it was a mile. Shuffling her bare feet across the floor, raven walked towards starfire's door. Once there, she quietly knocked on the door.
Only a few seconds passed before the door opened. Starfire was standing on the other side of the door, wearing only purple panties and a purple bra.
"Starfire, you're..."
"Friend Raven, thank goodness you are here! I have many questions to ask you!" Starfire grabbed Ravens arm, and pulled her into her room. Raven couldn't help but notice Starfire's body. Even though Starfire's clothes weren't the most concealing, she was even more exposed now. Most of her orange skin was exposed, and her Ed hair was pulled up into a bun on the back of her head. Starfire released Ravens arm, and skipped over to her bed, flopping down in front of her laptop. As she skipped, Starfire's but bounced up and down, as did her breasts. Raven blushed, unable to cover her face without her hood. Raven just stood near the door, wrapped up in her blanket, staring at Starfire.
"Raven, please come and sit. I have seen something and I have questions."
"Star, it's like, 3 o'clock in the morning. What are you doing up so late?" Raven yawned, but Starfire seemed to be wide awake.
"Friend Raven, please sit with me, I wish to show you something." Starfire patted the mattress next to her, beckoning raven to sit down. Reluctantly, Raven walked over to Starfire's bed, and sat down next to her.
"Now I had seen this video, and I wish to know-"
"Oh my god star, what are you watching?!" Raven exclaimed.
On the screen, a video played of two women, completely naked, kissing passionately. Starfire was on YouTube, and she was watching lesbians kiss.
"I have men and women kissing on the streets in the city. So I wanted to know what kissing was about. But now, I see this video of two women kissing. Is this normal for earth culture?"
"Starfire, I...why are you watching this?" Raven asked, now completely awake, shocked by what starfire was watching.
"Well, it seems that, when two people enjoy the company of each other, they kiss. But I have only seen men and women kiss, and now I see two women kissing. Is this not normal?"
Raven had seen women kiss before, but only on the streets. She didn't have a laptop or a phone, she only observed when people did on the streets.
"Well Star...it's not...well I guess it is normal. When two girls like each other...sometimes they will kiss."
"So this is normal for earth culture, for girls to kiss each other?" Starfire curiously asked, looking into Raven's purple eyes.
Raven was unsure how to answer. She knew about lesbians, but she didn't know how to explain it to her alien friend.
"So it is okay for girls to kiss each other?"
"I...yes it is star. Girls can kiss each other."
Starfire smiled, satisfied that she got the answer that seemed to be keeping her awake.
"Thank you friend Raven. I am sorry to have awoken you." Starfire said as she closed the laptop, extinguishing the only light in the room.
"You're welcome Star." Raven said as she stood up from the bed, walking towards the door. A few feet from the door, I slid open, and she heard a voice from behind her.
"Friend Raven?"
Raven turned around, but before she knew it, Starfire was standing directly in front of her. Quickly, before Raven had a chance to speak, Starfire puckered her lips and pressed them onto Raven's. Ravens eyes grew wide from shock. As quickly as the kiss stared, it was over. Starfire pulled her head back, now standing in front of Raven, still in just her undies. Raven put a hand up to her lips, feeling where Starfire's soft lips had just been. A warmth began to grow in raven, a warmth she had never felt before. Her whole body tingled, from her fingertips, down to her toes.
"You said girls who are friends will kiss each other. You are my friend, I though that I would give you an earth kiss."
Raven just stood speechless, still in shock. Starfire was unaware of what a kiss really meant. But Raven wasn't. And although starfire might not have felt anything more than lips against hers, Raven had. Something inside Raven had struck. It wasn't disgust, it was something different. Something new.
"Is something wrong friend?" Starfire asked looking concerned, noticing Ravens shock.
"No Star, nothings wrong. I just...I wasn't expecting you to...well that kiss was...a surprise." Raven said, pulling her hand away from her lips. Starfire's look of concerned disappeared as her lips pulled into another smile.
"Next time I kiss you, I will be sure to tell you first." Starfire said, smiling.
Raven wanted to tell her that they shouldn't kiss again. That it was wrong. That they were just teammates, just friends. But something inside her wouldn't let the words come out. Deep down, she felt a warmth still growing.
"Well, Goodnight friend Raven." Starfire said as she turned and walked back toward her bed. As the door to the room slid closed, the last thing Raven saw was Starfire's butt, bouncing as the orange skinned girl walked away from her. As Raven walked back down the hall and into her own room, the thought of Starfire's kiss plagued her mind.
"It meant nothing. She just thinks that's what friends do." Raven thought to herself.
"But if that's what she thought friends do, what hasn't she kissed Robin? Or cyborg, or Beastboy? Maybe she trusts me more? Or maybe...no Raven, don't be ridiculous."
As raven laid back down onto her own bed, she tried to push the kiss out of her head. It had only been a kiss between friends, that's all.
But to Raven, it had awoken something inside her. A feeling she hadn't ever felt before. A feeling she didn't think she would ever feel. And to a girl no less.
Hours passed before raven finally drifted into unconsciousness. The last thought that ran through her head was of starfire, kissing her. But not the light kiss they had shared. It was of Starfire, kissing her passionately like the girls in the video starfire had been watching. As Raven's body shut down, falling into the arms of sleep, her lips pulled into a light smile. That night, she dreamt of starfire, of being able to kiss her once again.
