"Diamonds never sparkle bright

If they aren't set just right,"

Erik sang softly to Meg.

"Beauty sometimes goes unseen

We can't all be like Christine."

The words made Meg snap.

"Christine…Christine…ALWAYS CHRISTINE!" The gun went off and whizzed harmlessly passed Madame Giry's head. Gustave clung to his mother. Meg pointed the gun at Christine.

"Meg no!" Erik moved towards her.

"Not another step or I'll shoot."

Erik stopped.

"Meg please," Erik pleaded.

"Always wondered how to make you watch! Well watch me now!" Meg cocked the gun. Suddenly a disturbing smile crossed her face.

"Meg…" Her mother came towards her.

"No!" Meg's attention was back on Erik.

"Start a new life with me! Buy their freedom with your love! Refuse me and you send your family to their death! THIS IS THE CHOICE THIS IS THE POINT OF NO RETURN!"

Erik felt sick, those were the same words he'd sung to Christine ten years earlier.

"Meg, you don't want to do this." He begged.

"Oh yes I do." Meg spat back.

Erik looked at Christine. Their eyes met and Christine gave him the same look she'd given Raoul all those years ago.

"Sweet innocent Meg…" Erik sang as he approached Meg. "This isn't the life you should know… God give me courage to show you, you are not alone!" As the last words left his mouth Erik kissed Meg.

She froze. She had the exact same reaction he'd had the first time Christine kissed him.

He pulled back and locked his eyes with hers. Meg's eyes were outlined in tears and she stared, in shock, at Erik. Christine fought back tears as Meg gave Erik a small smile.

It was then that Meg realized that Erik's eyes passed over her shoulder and landed on Christine.

Meg's smile faded and she suddenly felt horrible.

"G-go…take them…just forget me." Meg gave Erik a slight shove towards Christine. Erik ran towards Christine and embraced her and Gustave.

"GO!" Meg screamed over her tears.

"Meg-" Madame Giry tried.

"No mother! Leave me!" Meg disappeared into her dressing room. For a moment Madame Giry stood there shocked, but a minute later she set off in the opposite direction that Meg had gone.

"Mother," Gustave looked up at Christine "Where's Papa?"

Christine knelt down to her son's level.

"Your father…your real father." She looked up at Erik. Gustave looked at him and reached for his mask. Erik grabbed his wrist, but his eyes locked with his son's. Christine rose and her heart raced. But Erik released Gustave's wrist and removed his own mask. Reveling a dent in his head that exposed his skull, the a nose that wasn't quite formed and his blonde-brown hair that the black wig covered.

Erik expected his son to run away again, but instead Gustave embraced his father. Erik was shocked, but a moment later he returned his son's embrace.

Christine smiled at her son and soon-to-be husband. She had dreamed what their life together could be…and now it was a reality.

Fin.
