"That's Steven's dad?" Jasper asked, staring wide-eyed at the man in the car wash forecourt before them, having a water fight with his son. Pearl nodded.
"His name is Greg." The smaller Gem replied, smiling as Steven gave his dad a hug.
"That's the Human being that the great Rose Quartz chose to be her mate? Him?" Jasper still couldn't believe it.
"That's him." Pearl replied, crossing her arms. "He used to be thinner, less beard, more hair kinda thing. You know how humans are with aging. He's a very good father and he made Rose happy. That's what's important."

Jasper didn't say anything, she just stared at Greg. Pearl looked up at her. "Jasper? Jasper! I know he's not much to look at, but it's rude to just stare!" She squawked.
"Not much to look at?!" Jasper exclaimed. "Are we looking at the same human?"
"Yes...why?" Pearl asked.
Jasper made a low growl, almost like a purr and a grin spread across her face.
"He's perfect."

"Oop, looks like Pearl's here to take you home, buddy." Greg said, turning the hose off. He waved to the slender Gem who was standing across the road from his car wash. He smiled as she waved back.
"Oh yeah. Hi, Pearl!" Steven shouted, waving. Greg walked back over to his son and tousled his wet hair.
"Jeez, who's that?" He asked, looking at the much larger Gem standing next to Pearl.
"Oh, that's Jasper! Hi, Jasper!" Steven shouted again, waving again. "She's from Homeworld."
Greg gulped. "Homeworld? Are you safe with her?" Greg looked at Jasper from across the street. The orange gem towered above Pearl She couldn't hear what she was saying, but she was looking right at him. "Wow. She's big."
"Yeah she's okay. Anyway, Garnet would know if she wasn't safe." Steven said.
"Yeah, you're right. Just be careful, okay?" Greg smiled. "Anyway, it's getting late. C'mon, Shtoo-ball." He patted his son on the head and the two walked over to where Pearl and Jasper were waiting.

"Perfect? What do you mean perf- Steven! Greg! Did you have a good day?" Pearl smiled awkwardly, bending down to give Steven a hug.
"Yeah, we went to see the new Dogcopter movie! It didn't have as much character development in it as I would have liked, but it was still great!" Steven said, smiling.
"Heh, that's my little film critic!" Greg chuckled and turned to look up at Jasper. She stood taller than him by a foot and was still staring at him. "Erm...you must be Jasper." Greg said, holding out his hand. "It's nice to meet y-"
Jasper took Greg's hand, leaned forward and kissed it.
"It is enchanting to meet you, Greg." Jasper purred, a smile tugging at the corner of her mouth. Pearl slapped herself on the forehead and Steven smiled knowingly. He knew what was happening, but he'd never expected Jasper to act like this.
"Heh, heh..." Greg flushed red and looked at his feet. "I'm gonna hope this is some kind of Homeworld custom I haven't heard of yet..."
Pearl coughed and both Jasper and Greg looked at her, Jasper not letting go of Greg's hand.
"Haha! Anyway!" Pearl laughed awkwardly. "We'd better be going! Steven needs a change of clothes and I think I can hear Amethyst burning the soup! See you tomorrow, Greg!" She began to usher Steven away down to the beach.
"Bye, dad!" Steven called.
"Bye, son!" Greg replied. He turned back to Jasper, who still hadn't let go of his hand. "Heh, I'm gonna need that back at some point." He smiled uncomfortably.
"Oh, sorry." Jasper said, letting go and standing back to her full height.
Greg scratched the back of his head and tried not to make eye contact with her. "I guess I'll see you around then!"
"JASPER!" Pearl squawked from down the road.
"Yes, yes you will." Jasper replied with a wink. She strode off towards an incandescent looking Pearl.

Greg shook his head. "That was weird."
