Disclaimer: I'm just using Joss Whedon's and David Greenwalt's characters,
trust me. IF they were mine, I would keep Spike to myself, and not share!!!
Cause I'm mean like that.
The day began like any other day. Cordelia was typing on her computer. Wesley, a stuffy Englishman and a former member of the Watchers Council, was reading ANOTHER book on demons. Apparently old habits don't fade. Charles Gunn, an associate of Angel Investigations, was off fighting vampires or something. Seemed like another day at Angel Investigations. Except for a few major things. Cordelia looked catatonic. Her normally bubbly eyes had dark circles and were dark and pensive, much like her attitude. She never wore makeup and she never laughed anymore. Wesley's, book had been on the same page for an hour. He was just staring blankly into it. His eyes were red, tears had flowed recently, and it appeared he hadn't got much sleep lately. Charles Gunn, he hadn't really known the chick, but he could see the effect she was having on his friends. They all seemed to not care anymore. Except for Angel.
Angel, the first vampire to fall for this particular slayer, cared too much. He had pulled a Lizzy Borden on them, and went totally nuts. He started killing people again, draining them. See Angel had this nice little alter-ego named Angelus. Let's just say the Angelus was not a nice fellow. So for his safety, and theirs, Gunn had to lock him up. Keep him from getting out at night, and during the day while Cordy and English were there. They slipped blood packets under his door and waited. For what, who knows, but they waited. One day he almost got to Cordelia.
"C'mon 'Delia, I'm so alone! PLEASE. I need someone to hold. MY Slayer's gone, if only you could help me please!" Angelus cried out, "I'm so scared, I'm so alone! PLEASE 'Delia don't leave me!" Cordelia reached for the doorknob when Wesley walked in and pulled away Cordelia's hand away from it. She broke down and cried into Wes' shoulder. Wesley, crying himself, led Cordelia out of the hallway. Apparently it wasn't only one moment of pure happiness, but grief as well, that set off Angelus.
In the absence of Angel, they needed another vampire, or someone with vampiric strength. It totally surprised Gunn when Spike showed up. He didn't know him either, but he had seen him lurking in LA before. Evidently, he couldn't take it in Sunnydale. Not anymore, he too loved the slayer, but because he didn't have a soul, she refused to love him back. He didn't dare tell anyone but Gunn. Eventually, however, the rest of the LA crew figured it out. Spike was helping Gunn, and he was doing it out of the kindness of his undead heart. One day though Spike was out with Gunn and his vampire fighting friends when he got staked. Spike uttered one last word before he exploded into dust. It was the name of the girl who'd caused so much pain in many lives, the girl who'd caused Angel to revert back to Angelus. It was the name of the girl whose death had effected the entire balance of good and evil.
