Before Children of the Corn a young boy called Isaac was out in a cornfield
near the edge of Gatlin and then an unstoppable force came right at him. It
was He who walks behind the rows and it stopped right in front of Isaac.
Isaac was different. He was going to fight back against his abusive
parents. Isaac went into a barn and his father was there drunk. "Isaac what
are doing here? Shouldn't you be in bed?" "No father, WHAT ARE YOU DOING
HERE? SHOULDN'T YOU BE DEAD IN HELL!" "What?" A drunken Mr Chroner asked.
He was confused. Isaac hacked at him with a scythe and put his hand into
the deep cut then ripped his guts out. Isaac picked up the scythe and
started hacking away at him. When he was dead Isaac cut him into pieces. He
went into the house and his mother was there. "Isaac what are you doing out
of bed?" "I'm serving He who walks behind the rows!" He picked up a sickle
and decapitated her.
It was a hot day in Gatlin. Sarah told Joseph and Job that "Something bad is going to happen and Isaac will be behind it. People will die." Joseph answered, "If this does happen I'll run away from Gatlin.[pic]"
