The Life Ever After
Chapter 1
Lisa startled as she was getting cold. She didn't know how long they had been sitting there on the grass, she only knew that it was late. She still couldn't believe that Allie had really left – that Allie really had chose to left. Though she could understand why Allie did that. Allie was her little girl and Allie never wanted to hurt anybody. Lisa knew that Allie would go as far as she had to to pretend anybody from hurting. This loss was just too much for Lisa.
"Hey sweetie, how are you doing?"
Lisa raised up her eyes to meet Charlie's gentle eyes. Oh, how great it was to Charlie now, she thought. Having Charlie there comforted her very much and she hoped that Charlie would never let her go.
"I'm hanging on. Can we go inside?" Lisa asked.
"Of course, sweetie. I have been waiting for you to say that, I'm fucking freezing", Charlie said with a smile on his face.
They both rose up clumsily as their legs were numb from all the sitting. Lisa glanced quickly the surrounding, as expecting to find something – or someone from there. Nothing. Charlie put his hand around Lisa's shoulder and they went inside the empty farmhouse. Just before closing the door after them, Lisa looked around the garden but there wasn't anybody. Allie was really gone.
