What If...

Luke opened his eyes, groggy from previous events. He was suddenly surrounded by medics, but only one figure stood out to . She had a very perturbed look on her face, though he could not place

why. The expression on her face made him feel like there had been a horrible disaster Then it came rushing back to him. Kronos. Leading the army. Almost killing fellow campers, Annabeth, and even Percy. He looked back at Thalia and croaked out,

"I'm...so...sorry"

at the sight of this the girl in question started to cry. Luke, the boy she thought she knew so well, the boy who guided her and Annabeth to the safety of Camp Half-Blood, who took every camper under his wing. Thalia had known him in good times and bad, but this was truly his worst, lying there on the stretcher slowly turning green, clearly in agony. She decided to try and pretend like everything was okay and none of this had happened. She smiled sweetly and said

"You've been through it all, Luke, you can get better, I know you can."

There were tears welling in her eyes though, so he knew she didn't believe the words she was saying. Luke tried to comfort her by saying,

It was so sweet of Luke to try and reassure her that he was feeling great, but he clearly didn't look that way, at least not to her. She whispered,

"Bye"

He drifted back into unconsciousness and Thalia broke down into tears. It was not like her to show emotions, but this was an unusual case she had known this deep down for years, even when she joined the Hunters. She was in love with Luke Castellan, and she wanted to shout it from the rooftops. But she had to wait, at least to tell Luke before confessing to anyone else.

4 hours later he was awake. Thalia exclaimed,

" I have something to tell you." Luke responded, "so do I." They said together, "I love you"

Everyone in the room turned to look at the new couple, but they only had eyes for each other, and it was like nothing else in the world had ever they remembered. They had been on opposing sides of a war, they wanted to kill each other, how could those feelings change to love so quickly. Thalia realized,

"What will Annabeth and Percy have to say about this? I hope they forgive him, though it will be difficult."

Luke stated, "Let's not worry about this now, we need to live in the moment! Who knows if I'll ever survive this." He drew her attention back to the gruesome shoulder wound that she had been trying so hard to ignore.

This brought her back to reality, which was a harsh one indeed. Would she have to resign from being a Hunter? What would happen if he didn't survive, how could she deal with the emotional pain that would come along with that? Fear washed over her and anxiety took hold. She was drowning in her own thoughts, so much that she did not hear a medic telling her that Luke needed to be taken away to have his vitals measured.

When she finally got a grip on herself, Thalia was distraught to learn that she could not see where Luke went, and was sent into another flurried panic before discovering that he was okay.

"You shouldn't get like this!" she scolded herself. Thank goodness Luke had come back again, and that smile of his made her feel like everything was truly going well, Until he stated,

"I saw Percy, and he did not look happy to see me"

Thalia wondered how Percy was going to react to them being a couple, but didn't have enough time to think, because Percy AND Annabeth were walking towards them right now. The vengeful looks on their face were expressed verbally with "HOW COULD YOU!""I'll be fine. They just need to give me some ambrosia and nectar and I'll recover."
