A/N: Birthday gift for my best friend. Enjoy, R&R and F&F please.
Thunder
The sky was as gloomy and gray as usual. It started as just a slight drizzle.
Drip drop. Drip drop.
A quick flash of light. Then a loud "bang!" and so it went on. One strike after another. The lightning wasn't the problem. It was what came after. Each thunder shook the world, while Misaki tried to hold it still.
She was crouched in her bed, her head wrapped in two layers of pillows and a very thick blanket. She silently thanked the Duke for this room. But, even the layers couldn't keep the irrationally horrifying sounds out. One of the many aspects of England that did not agree with her was the weather.
Zap! Bang!
Misaki pulled the pillows tighter on her head, trembling and muttering under her breath. She scolded herself for being so weak. Thunder was just a natural phenomenon. It was loud sure, but nothing to be afraid of-
Another booming sound interfered with her thoughts.
"What would those idiots back home think if they saw me like this..."
Thud thud!
She peeked from under her multi-layered refuge to see where the noise was coming from. Someone was knocking on her door. It was locked. She tried to get up and open it, when another flash of lightning flashed by and the power went out. She scurried back under the blanket just in time before the thunder boomed.
The knocks on her door resumed.
"Ayuzawa! Open up!" yelled a most familiar voice, that both irritated and relived her.
"U...sui?" she called out. "I-I can't get ou-"
BOOM!
She cowered back into the pillow. Two seconds later, she heard another bang. It was quieter than thunder. Then footsteps. He got inside the room.
Misaki felt a hand over her head, above the blanket. It patted her head lightly, then lifted the blanket up slowly.
"O-oy! Don't do that you idiot!"
"Ara ara, the Prez cowering because of thunder," he smirked. "Where did your strength go, Ayuzawa?"
Another thunder sounded and Misaki grimaced.
Takumi slowly got up on the bed and held her under the blanket. He rocked her back and forth lightly. She flustered and tried to complain, but another thunder muted her. Instinctively, she grasped onto his back tightly. He held her closer, putter his arm around her. He rested her head on his other arm and wrapped it around to cover her ears, pulling her head closer to his chest. Her face flushed and ears burned. She opened her mouth to say something but, he stopped her.
"I'm holding you like this until you calm down," he whispered. "So no complaining."
["Damn it, let go of me already."]
["I won't. I'll be here until you calm down, Ayuzawa."]
"Okay..." she whispered back.
The night progressed as the storm raged on. He thunders didn't stop but, Misaki felt safer.
"Why did you come here?" she asked.
"I know how terrified you are of thunder, Misa-chan."
"Don't make fun of me, Stupid Usui."
He chuckled and held her the same. Not once did he loosen his grip on her.
The maids got quite a shock the next day to see their outcast young master to be in such a scandalous position with the "maid" from Japan. And who was going to fix the door!?
The End
