Dearest James,
I am sorry I was never there as you grew up but you must understand that me and your mother, we couldn't be together anymore so she took you from me and her boyfriend raised you believing you were his son. I don't expect you to believe me, but I only want you to know the truth. You see we split when your mother cheated on me with him and I knew she would never truly love me, so we got a divorce on your first birthday
James there is something else I must tell you, before you were born a disease spread across the world turning people in to 'mutants' James I believe you and your brother are mutants, but be careful my son as the mutants are seen as dangerous and you will not be safe on your own your brother knows what to do if anything should happen to the home, I want you to go with him wherever and whenever he says, I trust him to do the right thing and I hope that you feel the same.
When you are out in the world remember what I have told you James and be good for your mother and brother. One day they will come for you and you must run- to save yourself and I will die protecting you from them, do not fear though son for I will always love you and watch over you. If you should ever need anything you know where I am so do not be afraid to come to me. Time is running out though and I fear that they know what you are be ready for when they come you will run further than you have ever run before and faster, you and your brother together in the wind and the rain, never let his hand fall from yours run together and don't ever stop to look back for it will be too late.
