The apartment was quiet aside from the outside noise of the London streets. Dan and Phil sat in their shared lounge, silently scrolling through on their respective laptops with the background noise of a late night game show playing faintly.
Dan looked up to Phil curiously.
"Have you ever wondered what it's like to kiss a guy?" He asked.
Phil laughed to himself.
"I don't have to wonder.. I've done it before."
"You've kissed a guy?" Dan exclaimed in disbelief. "Was it like a dare?"
"No, I wanted to do it." Phil admitted.
"Wait... What?"
"I just was curious and wanted to figure out if I was gay or something."
"Are you?" Dan pressed.
"I don't think so."
Phil got up to put away his now empty mug. Dan watched him leave the room, eyes still glued until Phil returned.
"What?!" Phil asked, annoyed at Dan's gaze.
"What was it like?"
Phil watched Dan for a second. Obviously this was something Dan was thinking about potentially doing.
"Dan, do you want me to kiss you?"
Dan jumped back, as if he wasn't far enough from Phil already.
"No! You're my friend Phil.. I just wanted to know what it was like." He defended.
"Well it was different than kissing a girl. Better in some aspects and worse in others. I don't know how to describe this to you."
Dan sighed.
"Dan, really, it won't mean anything if we kiss. I kissed my friend when I did it. I feel like we're close enough to do this and move on."
He seemed to consider Phil's offer for a moment before slightly nodding his head and moving closer. Phil too adjusted his position and scooted towards Dan.
Phil caught on to the nervous energy Dan was giving off.
"We don't have to do this if you aren't comfortable."
Dan shook his head.
"It's just a kiss. It doesn't really mean anything." He murmured.
Phil nodded and began to lean in, cupping Dan's face in his hands. Dan was that of a statue, still, expressionless, and unmoving.
The moment their lips made contact, Dan's eyes fluttered shut, still unmoving.
Phil began to move in attempt to make Dan more comfortable with the given situation. It was a success in that Dan opened his mouth and pushed towards Phil experimentally. Phil gradually pushed against him to match the pressure.
Phil could hear the heavy breathing that had began emitting from Dan. He had to admit, this was different from when he'd last kissed a guy. This was good. This was messy, no doubt, but good.
The two pulled apart to breath momentarily. Dan reconnected the kiss, wrapping his arms around his best friend.
Phil pulled away this time, trying to stop the kiss from becoming anything more than just that.
"..and that's what kissing a guy is like." Phil said as if he'd just verbally explained the concept very well.
"Oh, thanks Phil.. I wonder what kissing a guy with his shirt off is like."
Phil rolled his eyes and began removing his shirt.
"Thanks Phil." Dan laughed before resuming.
"Anything for a friend."
