I do not own Inuyasha or its characters.

Silk Sheets

Their wedding went off without a hitch, the celebration carrying on long into the night. Food and drink were shared by all as everyone celebrated Kagome and Inuyasha's union.

The hut had been a surprise, though. Neither the hanyou nor the miko had any knowledge of its creation. The villagers had come together to build the home, providing the food and furnishings that Inuyasha and Kagome hadn't had the time to build or purchase, surprising the couple with it shortly after their wedding.

In true Miroku-like fashion, the monk had gifted them with the bed they were to sleep in, labeling it a 'consummation' gift, instead of a wedding gift. Sango and Keade had disappeared mid-way through the celebration, returning as quietly as they'd disappeared a short time later.

Inuyasha and Kagome were welcomed into their home a few hours later, a fire crackling invitingly in the hearth, a pot of stew simmering enticingly at its center. Inuyasha and Kagome were humbled by the thoughtfulness of those around them, as well as in the gifts that littered the floor.

One was marked , "To Kagome and Inuyasha. Love, Mom."

Kagome smiled softly, her fingers touching the present her mother had sent, hidden in the backpack she'd used for years in their travels.

Un-wrapping the gift, Kagome laughed, pulling the material from the wrapping before turning her gaze to her husband, a pretty blush highlighting her face.

Hours later, Inuyasha silently thanked his wife's mother for the comfort she'd provided. Turning to his wife, Inuyasha pulled Kagome to him.

While the sensation of silk sheets blanketed them, Inuyasha found he still preferred the feel of his mate wrapped around him, the heat of Kagome's skin a stark contrast to the cool comfort of silk his mother-in-law had provided for their bedding.
