"Welcome to Karakura High School!" said some kid in Japanese, "Go away" I replied. "I'm eating."

"man, you're a lot like Ichigo," He went on "you both look different, eat alone, and have bad attitudes."

It was true, a couple of friends and I volunteered to be exchange students from America and moved to Japan. We thought of it as a vacation from American drama.

I looked up. And the annoying kid who was talking backed up, looking bummed out. I felt someone pat my back, "Don't worry about him, he's just... him," said a voice. I turned around and see a kid with bright orange hair, "My name is Ichigo Kurosaki."

"What do you want?" I replied, uninterested. I just wanted my sandwich.

"Nothing really, just meeting the new kids, I've met Victoria and Kaylee, what's your name kid?"

I hated being called a kid. I stood up and pushed him as hard as I could, he fell back into a redhead girls arms, who tried to help him back up.

Getting a clear look at the guy, he was no more than 17 years old. Two years older than me. He was shorter than me, but he had an older guy presence.

"Don't call me a kid," I said, "Ever, and my name is Devin."

I stared at him with my signature glare, but felt people surround us. They probably expected a fight. Which through me off. Ichigo finally decided to stand up again and he said "Okay, Devin" and walked off. His friends followed him, including the redhead girl who was helping him up. She looked back and her black haired friend, who I didn't really notice, pulled her arm saying "Come on, Orihime!"

She looked startled, but said "Okay, Tatsuki!"

I grinned because I thought it was funny, and I finally got to eat my sandwich.

I looked up and saw someone, not a student, and it was slightly transparent. "ghost..." I whispered to myself, finishing off my sandwich, nobody knew about my secret of seeing ghosts, I couldn't remember a time where I couldn't see them. I stood and went to look for my friends, ignoring the ghost. I saw Victoria from a distance, she seemed to be ok, and she was eating with another kid who I didn't know. I walked over and poked her shoulder.

"Hey," I said in English, you ok?

"Yeah, we're not supposed to be talking in English in school," She said "You know that right?"

"Yeah, but I don't care." I said "I'm leaving after lunch, okay?"

"Okay, see you at the apartments then."

On cue, the bell for class rung.

"Well, see you." I said to Victoria and walked off. I walked through the front door of school and headed toward the apartments I live in.
