Chapter 1
It was a unusually hot summer day in Adventure Bay. It was so hot that even the birds were bursting into flames. At Mr. Porters resturant Alex tried to eat a SnoCone, but it melted. Back at the Lookout all the pups were trying to figure out ways to cool down. Rubble stuck his face into a tub of ice cream, but it was all melted. Skye tried flying around, but the heat was too much, and she decided to land and find another way to cool off. Marshall tried to use his fire hose to cool everyone off, but it would accidently hit Rocky who was trying to build a fan. Thats when Zuma had an idea.
"Hey pups, how about a surfing contest?" said the water loving lab.
"That sounds great! Even if we lose we still get to cool off!" said Skye "Not me! You know I dont like water." said Rocky who was still trying to work on his fan.
"Come on buddy it'll be fun. You swam that one time remember?" said Zuma playfully jumping around Rocky.
"No Thank you." said Rocky shaking his head. "Ill make the surfboards but thats it."
"Deal." said Zuma as the shook "Paws"
Rocky went straight to work building the surfboards as all the pups changed into their swimming clothes. Rubble wore yellow trunks with wrenches on them. Chase wore blue trunks with badges on them. Zuma wore orange trunks with anchors on them along with orange googles. Marshall wore red trunks with flames on them. Skye wore a pink onepiece with flowers on them. After all the pups were dressed Rocky presented them with their own surfboards. They were all beautifully designed with their badge design on them with the help from Ryder and Katie.
"Okay Rocky we're leaving are you sure you dont want to come?" said the young leader "No Thank you Ryder." "Are you sure, It'll be fun" said Ryder nudging his shoulder. "Okay, I'll do it, but not one single drop." Rocky quickly changed and built his surfboard and met his friends down by the beach. Everyone was on the beach wearing their lifejackets and attaching their tether to one of their rear paws. Ryder even wnet and picked up the prize. The prize was a trophy dipicting a gold surfboard. Their were three judges that day and they were Mr. Porter, Mayor Goodway, and Jake. Captain Turbot was on the Bay with his boat incase anything happened.
Rubble was up first and was promptly knocked down by a powerful wave.
Marshall tried to make it out to deeper water but kept being pushed back by the tide.
Zuma crossed out in front of Chase causing him to fall off his surf board. Now its down to three. Zuma, Rocky, and Skye.
Skye was showing off doing backflips while on her board. She wnet back to shore to await her scores.
Zuma had a good run through a wave called a Pipeline and came out the otherside unscathed. He also went to shore to wait his score.
Rocky was clinging to his surfboard like a cat. He refused to get wet. He went through a pipeline upside down but still hung on to his surfboard. He did a complete 360 through the pipeline and landed right side up with not one drop of water on him.
The pups awaited their scores as the judges tallied the scores and mistakes.
Since they fell off their boards Chase, Marshall, and Rubble watched on as they awaited Zuma, Skye, and Rocky's scores Mayor Goodway stood up to announce the winners.
Third place goes to... Zuma!
And the Winner is... Rocky!
Rocky was shocked, he didnt believe it. He actually won! All the pups ran over and congratulated Rocky for winning the contest. Zuma walked over to Rocky with the trophy. "Good Job Dude! I knew you would do it!"
