Sometimes Sam Winchester was an open book. Sweetly vulnerable, painfully honest and so generous with his heart it hurt.
Then some days that book would slam shut, and Jess was left wondering what had caused her lover so much pain that he had to close himself off. She noticed a pattern to this behaviour, certain dates that clearly meant something.
November 2nd.
January 24th.
Certain topics of conversation that brought a frightening chill to those warm hazel eyes.
Fathers.
Brothers.
Mocking ghosts.
