AN: This was inspired by a photo I saw on a dating website. Enjoy

If Matt had never seen her leaning against that motorbike of hers, he was sure that he would never have fallen head over heels in love with her. Absolutely sure, especially considering the fact that he ALREADY had a girlfriend. A very beautiful girlfriend, who many boys liked and indeed were envious of. A girlfriend he really should have been paying attention to right now in fact.

"Hey, you okay?" Will asked him as she looked him with concern. "You're not about to go all Shagon on me, are you?"

Matt chuckled, but he wasn't feeling amused. Will had done a lot for him, more than he deserved in his opinion. She had helped him come to terms with what Nerissa had done to him. She had done her upmost to find him when she thought he was in danger. She had stuck with him through the steady rise of his music career and had personally attended every concert he had ever played at.

He had helped her with her excuses, covering for her when people asked after her and he had helped her study her way into college to study veterinary medicine and thanks to his Shagon guise, he was even able to fight by her side.

And yet, on the meal to celebrate their fourth year anniversary together, he couldn't stop thinking about the other girl. More specifically, he couldn't stop thinking about Hay Lin.

It had happened a couple of weeks ago. Hay Lin was leaning against her new motorbike, a sleek, elegant vehicle with a small curved windscreen at the front. It was on its stand and Hay Lin was leaning against it with one hand holding her phone and the other was resting gently on her helmet on the back of the bike. Her long, silky-black hair was blowing loosely in the wind (Pigtails got tangled up under her helmet she claimed.)

Ever since then, he had noticed hundreds of little things about her. The way she wrinkled her nose slightly when she was concentrating on her art. The way her face lit up whenever she met a friendly neighbourhood cat who insisted that she fuss him. The way she always tried to wash ink off her hands at the end of the day. All the little things that escaped his notice before was suddenly as clear as if she had shouted them out from the top of the Silver Dragon. It was disconcerting to say the least.

"Sorry Will, I guess my mind was elsewhere," he said with a smile and he gave her a kiss. "I'm sorry. I promise, no more distractions."

"That's good," Will replied with a smile on her face and Matt felt a twist in his guts. He liked Will, he really did. She was a really good person, understanding and compassionate. She would make an excellent vet one day, he was sure. He just…didn't like her that way anymore. She deserved better than him, but for tonight he was going to give her a date to remember and enjoy.

"So where are we having this meal anyway?" she asked as she tilted her head at him and smiled. "Somewhere nice and romantic?"

"That," Matt replied with a mysterious smile as he reached into his pocket and withdrew a blindfold, "is a surprise. You'll know when we get there." Matt felt another twist in his guts as he opened the car door. He had said those words with enthusiasm and love, but halfway through an image of Hay Lin had suddenly popped into his head and for a moment he wondered what it would be like to say those words to her. He gave himself a mental shake. Tonight was the night for him and Will, not him and Hay Lin. He had to get a grip! As she stepped into his car and put the blindfold on, he closed his eyes momentarily and took a deep breath. It wouldn't be an enjoyable date for Will if he spent it daydreaming of Hay Lin. Opening his eyes, he stepped into the other side of the car and started the ignition.
