Getting His Acceptance
Summary: Even after the events of Reunion, Ronon still doesn't think Sam has the capacity to be a military leader and thinks she's more of a pencil pusher than a field soldier despite what Rodney's and Evan's first hand experiences watching her in combat and John's recounts of SG-1 mission reports about her combat skills. Even Teyla thinks that Sam odviously knows how to fight. Sam knows this so one day she goes into the gym while Ronon and Teyla are sparring and challenges them as a two against one (her). It takes three hours but Sam eventually is able to take them both down (John watched the whole thing ready to intervene if needed). After this, Ronon accepts Sam as he knows she can hold her own in a combat situation. He, Teyla, and John spread the word and everyone else quickly falls into line as they realize that their leader not only knows science and can play politics but that she's a "damn fine" soldier too.

"Teyla! Ronon! Sparring today?" inquired Sam.
"Yes, Colonel, we've just begun. Would you care to join?" responded Teyla.
"Yeah, Teyla will even be on your side, you know, so that you don't get too hurt." continued Ronon.
"Actually Ronon, I think I'd like to try going against both you AND Teyla first, just to see where my skill level actually lies," Sam responded.
"Okay, but I'm SO not going to be in trouble if you get hurt," replied Ronon.
Meanwhile John Sheppherd passes by the room when the exchange happens. *Oh, boy! Does she have any clue what she's doing? I mean, I've read enough SG-1 mission reports to know that she CAN fight, but can she really take on Ronon and Teyla at the same time? I guess I'd best go in there in case things get out of hand.*
Over the next three hours, Ronon and Teyla do their absolute best to try to take down Sam Carter, but, Sam winds up defeating them both with her only having a few dozen small bruises and a few cuts on her. John is absolutely amazed by her feat. Teyla's respect for the new base CO is increased greatly and Ronon, well, he finally decides that she really does know her stuff and so accepts her fully.
Before the day was over, Atlantis' rumor mill had hit overdrive due to Ronon, Teyla, and John having spread word throughout the city of Sam's amazing fighting skills. By the end of the week, all of the personelle, both civilian and military alike had fallen into line as it was then that they realized that their new leader was not only a brilliant scientist in her own right but a "damn fine soldier" too, and as such, that as long as they were all willing to have her back, she'd be willing to have theirs.
Sorry I haven't added any to any of my other stories in a while but I'm trying to get back to them. I've just been dealing with some writers block/ lost the idea with some of them. I do have another short story written but not typed so hopefully soon I'll get it typed and uploaded.
