Turtle-duck Date Night
"Today, is perfect." Asami's statement earned her a chuckle from her girlfriend.
"I thought it had been pretty miserable until this night?" Korra countered.
"No, it was a good morning, seeing as you were there besides me when I woke up, lunch became increasingly better when you showed up with my favorite dish and," this time, she took a breath, pausing to make sure her Avatar didn't interrupt her, "then you took me out on a date. This day has been perfect."
"So what about the delay in production of your latest Satomobile?" That had been the first order of the day. "And then the cancelled lunch meeting to expand the infrastructure of our beloved city?"
Never mind the fact that now the vines and Spirit Wilds had decided to make Harmony Tower their new residence. It had been fortunate that they had been eating lunch together but those news, were by far the last anyone in Republic City were happy to hear about. And really, who would be happy? Now, they would need extra security at the tower and they couldn't just, apparently, go and visit it whenever they liked.
"Did you forget the worst part?" The non-bender's dry tone apparently didn't reach the tanned female, who simply chuckled.
"No, of course not, I was actually remembering how it ruined our perfectly good lunch date." Taking hold of the pale woman besides her, Korra pulled Asami closer, feeling relief when her girl laid down against her, placing her right hand on the tanned arm. The Avatar held her sweetly, knowing the heiress was smiling without having to see her face. She did enjoy the make up -less one she saw when they were getting ready for bed. "But, hopefully, this date night more than makes up for it."
"Oh, is that why you treated me to some Flamey-Os Instant Noodles?"
"Hey! You can't compare Narook's Take Out with those!" The Avatar defended, making her girlfriend laugh and so, forget her indignation. "Besides, I got us some cupcakes and dumplings for our turtle-duck ride . . . ."
"As long as it isn't Street Gruel —" she shuddered at the memory, "then I'm not picky."
It was Korra's turn to laugh. "I also got you your favorite smoothie."
"As long as it involves both, bending and blending, you know I'm happy," chuckling, they made themselves further comfortable against one another. "Too bad you didn't prepare it."
"Who says I didn't?"
"You did. When you said you got it?"
"Fine," more chuckles, "did I already mention that I love you?"
"Yes," she began counting with her right hand by pressing each digit as she began enumerating them, "this morning, when we woke up, during lunch, once the emergency meeting with Raiko over the Spirit vines and wilds and Harmony Tower was over, when you brought me here after I complained about being tired —"
"Then allow me to say it again."
. . . .
"Well?"
"Jeez, so much pressure."
"I love you."
"And I, you."
