Embry was standing on First beach, looking out toward where the water broke with the sky. The sun was setting and the sky was bright red. He was trying to clear his mind from his thoughts, but it didn't work. He wanted to have faith in the Quileute legend about imprinting. How could he not? He knew it existed. Sam, Quil, Jared, Paul and even Jake had imprinted. Embry wanted to imprint, he was trilled to know that someday a girl, hopefully, would mean the world to him. But the thing that made him doubt was; how would he know where to look.

All of the other guys' who had imprinted had met them here at LaPush, or at least somewhere close. He didn't think that he would find his imprint in LaPush. He had been to school, nothing. He had walked around town, nothing. The options were limiting down to the local crafts group. If his imprint was an old quilt making woman, he would rather be without an imprint.

Sometimes when he couldn't sleep he would fantasies about how it would be to imprint. He knew the general things from hearing the other guy's thoughts but he thought that it couldn't even describe the way you would feel. The feeling of having a soul mate, a true love, surely that feeling couldn't be expressed in any way. Embry wanted to have the feeling of joy of waking up with someone in your arms, to entwine your fingers with while walking down the beach. But even if he had faith, he wondered if he would ever imprint.

Embry sighed and closed his eyes; he could still see all the colours of the sky. They where almost branded on his eyelids. He could hear footsteps behind him.

"Boh!" Quil screamed behind him.

"You suck at sneaking you old rug!" Embry laughed.

"oh come on! You were a little frightened" Quil laughed.

Embry just laughed, not feeling the need to continue.

"What are you doing?" Quil asked.

"Nothing" Embry said with a sigh.

"Wanna talk about it?" Quil asked, sensing that it was something that was weighting his thoughts.

"No"

"You know that we'll all find out the next time."

"Yeah, but for now I want to keep it to myself." Embry said looking out on the water again.

"Okay man, I'll leave you to it."

Embry heard Quil walk away.
